Mrs. Daniel Kintner, of Defiance, had such an experience, regarding which she says: "I had stomach trouble when I was eighteen years old that broke down my health, and for years I suffered with nervousness, headache, indigestion and nervous spasms. The spasms got so bad I would have them three or four times a week. After trying nearly every remedy recommended, I began taking Dr. Miles' Nervine, and I must say it helped me wonderfully.

I have had no severe nervousness for several years." i MRS. DAN KINTNER, 1002 Pleasant Defiance, O. Many remedies are recommended for diseases of the nervous system that fail to produce results because they do not reach the seat of the-trouble. Dr. Miles' Nervine has proven its value in such cases so many times that it is unnecessary to make claims for it.

You can prove its merits for yourself by getting a bottle of your druggist, who will return the price if you receive no benefit. MILES MEDICAL Elkhart, Ind. 2 Another big cotton crop this year, or even an average crop, means calamity all over the cotton States next fall. A big per rent of the 1911 unprecedented bumper crop will be carried Over and it will be nothing short of the worst sort of business suicide to plant a big acreage in cotton this year. The panic last fall will look small in comparison with what is in store for the Southern cotton farmer and Southern business interests next fall unless there is a tremendous curtailment in the production Of cotton this year.

If the temporary-advance in the price of cotton at this time tempts Southern farmers into the cotton gambling game again and they "put up" another big acreage, with heavy applications of commercial fertilizers, they must prepare to reap what they sow. and six-cent cot ton will be a possibility, witty all the loss and disaster that it means to Southern farmers and Southern industries. Carplina Union Farmer. Dan. J.

Joyce, Sanville, is so glad he escaped consumption and regained his health, that he writes about it for the benefit of others. "I had a cough which hung on for two years when I began using Foley's Honey and Tar Compound. I kept on until the cough finplly left me and I gained in weight from 113 to 185 nnnnds. In two years I have crown strong and healthy, all from the use of Foley's Honey and Tar Compound, which cured me. Beavans.

for particulars. tributes were paid this patriot and hero of the early days. The monument is a most magnificent one, the statue of John Paul Jones standing at the base in front of the pedestal, the great naval commander being shown in full uniform, his attitude as if he were watching a naval engagement, his right hand grasping his sword hilt. One of the in" seriptions is "First to compel foreign men-of-war to strike colors to the Stars and Stripes," and another, "In life he honored the flag, in death the flag shall honor him." The only speakers were President Taft and Gen. Horace Poter, the cord unveiling the statue being pulled by Admiral Dewey.

North Carolina takes pride in the career of John Paul Jones, both from the fact that he obtained his appointment to the name to which he added honor was that adopted by him from his great benefactor. Hon. Willie Jones of North Carolina. This State was glad when his remains were found in France and brought to the united States, and it today feels pride in the honors which have been shown the memory of this great Ameri can. Big Ocean Losses. The financial loss involved in the wrecking of the Titanic, stupendous as it will prove to be, is by no means all of the story. The year 1912, now not quite four months old, is notable for marine disasters. According to figures given by the London Financial Times, during the first three months of this year 47 vessels, representing $8,313,000, became losses under marine insurance policies effected in London, either with Lloyds or with the marine insurance companies, or both. In addition, five vessels were 'still reported missing at the beginning of the present month, and if these be included, the loss incurred by London underwriters during the past three months reaches $9,980,000.

To this must now be added the loss of the Titanic, which, costing approximately $10,000,000, went down with cargo valued, probably, at a sum at least equal to this. According to the Financial Times, the only underwriters who have really made money of late have been those interested in the speculative market, which caters for war risks, Oxford and Cambridge boat races, the budget, and epidemics. Isn't it time to call a halt? Washington Post. W. T.

Gilly, a prominent dealer in Pennington Gap, was so bothered with kidney and bladder trouble that he could not attend to business. He says, "I had severe pains in my back and kidneys and had to get up ten to fifteen times each, night. Saw Foley Kidney Pills advertised and bought two bottles, and soon felt great relief, and was entirely cured. No longer disturbed at night, but sleep till morning. E.

L. Starnes, Hickory, N. C. has in the past suffered severe ly with throat and lung trouble. and says, "I used Foley's Honey and Tar Compound for this and it gave me immediate satisfaction and relief.

It gives me pleasure to recommend this preparation for sore throat, hoarseness, or any affliction of the throat or lungs. I know it will do all claimed for Rpavans. The Love That Triumps Over Death. Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm; for love is strong as death. The Song of Solomon, vii, 6.

Love is the strongest of human ties, binding husband and wife, parents and children; the foundation of the family, which is the basis of society. The dwelling place of all the virtues, in the home humanity blossoms in its finest flower. Unselfishness, self-sacrifice and regard for the rights of others are there inculcated. 'Being together in love," husbands and wives who are truly married find matrimony indeed a holy bond. Through the years of loving companionship they become one in thought, in aspirations.

Sometimes they grow into the same into the same likeness. The darkest shadow that rests over bng and happy married life is the thought that one must go to the long sleep before the other is called. Parting is more to be dreaded than death itself; and there are not a few devoted couples who have prayed that they might die together. A hundred husbands and wives stood on the deck of the shattered Titanic and looked Death in the face. V.hin the call came, 'Women and children first!" the men tenderly bade their loved ones goxl-by.

Many of the women refused leave their husbands, and ha 1 to be torn from their arms, rescued against their will. Neither force nor persuasion would induce some wives to go into fie lifeboats and leave their husbands to ish. A dozen coupbs seem to have preferred death to separation. "vVe are asnearl'eiven on sea as on the land," said Sir Hum-phery Gilbert as his ship was sinking. As they stood there beyond the reah of human help, with the sweet sad strains of "Nearer, My God, To Thee," in thiir ear3 these nusbands and wives clasping hands must have looked beyond the waste of waters into a brighter, happier world where there shall be no parting.

Family devotiDn is one of the noblest trait3 of humanity. It has been particula-ly characteristic of the Jews, from the time of Abraham down through all the ages. Their lives centre in the home and family ties bind them very closely. With large enterprises, a fortune of millions, honored and beloved, Mr. Isidor Straus had every reason to cling to life.

Ytt wj find him without a murmur abiding the rule of the sea, standing aside to let the humblest woman find safety. With gentle insistence he urged his wife to take her place in the lifeboat She would not go unless he could go with her. So they died together. There is no more touching picture than the aged couple, arm in arm. facing to gether the last enemy "faithful unto aeatn.
