She was born June 8, 1988, a daughter of Mitzi Merrill. Surviving are her mother; her grandparents, Onzell Kirby and M.R. Kirby of Dallas and William Al Merrill of Dallas; a stepgrand- mother, Joann Rabb of Dallas, and an aunt, June Morphis of Dallas. Dr. James Edward Armstrong Dr.

James Edward Armstrong, 79, of Houston died Friday, Nov. 10, in Atlanta, Texas. Services were held in Atlanta at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Hanner Funeral Home with the Rev.

Joe Srygley officiating. Burial was in Pinecrest Cemetery in Atlanta. Dr. Armstrong was born April 10, 1910, in Biardstown, a son of Dr. James E.

Armstrong Sr. and Mattie Othello Haywood Armstrong. He married Virginia Holbert and was professor of oral surgery at the University of Texas Dental School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. Surviving are his wife; one son, James Hulon Armstrong of Galveston; two brothers, J.T.

Armstrong of Houston and Frank Armstrong of West; and four grandchildren. Annie Katherlne Coffman DEPORT Annie Katherine Coffman, 77, formerly of Pattonville, died at 1:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the Lake Lodge Villa Nursing Home in Fort Worth. Arrangements are pending with Grant Funeral Home.

Services are pending with Maxey Funeral Home. Mary Osburn Mary Osburn, 86, widow of Irvin Fischer Osburn, 829 S. Main, died at St. Joseph's Hospital at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov.

11. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Cline Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs.

Oaburn was bom Dec. 26, 1902, in Paris, a daughter of Dr. J.D. McMillan and Emma Ball McMillan. She attended Paris schools and Sweetbriar in Lynchburg, Va.

She was a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin. She married Mr. Osburn on April 27, 1934. He died June 23, 1978. She taught schools in Paris for a number of years before moving 'to Austin in 1957 where she became a state archivist and lived there until 1974 when she retired and returned to Paris.

She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, the Mary Baker Sunday School Class and the Priscilla Bible Club. She was secretary of the session and was an elder in the church. She was a former member of The King's Daughters and Delta Kappa Gamma. Surviving are a son, John D.M. Osbum of Austin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Mrs.

Louis Osburn of Austin, Mrs. Randolph Osburn of Deport and Mrs. Ross (Mary) Steele of Paris, and three nephews, Dr. Charles McMillan of Paris, John D. Osbum, Ph.D.

of Goodwell, and Randy Osburn of Clarksville. The family will be at the home of Dr. Charles McMillan, 3165 Clark Lane. KlzzIeWilborn Kizzde Wilbom of Cooper died Sunday, Nov. 12, at St.

Joseph's Hospital. Services are pending with Beasley Memorial Funeral Home. Virgil T. Reel LADONIA Virgil T. Reel, 73, of Ladonia died Sunday, Nov.

12, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the First Baptist Church in Ladonia with Joel Roberson and Eugene Johnson officiating. Delta Funeral Home of Ladonia will make burial in Pecan Gap Cemetery.

Mr. Reel was born Jan. 21,1916, in Delta County, a son of Tom L. and Annie Mae Waggoner Reel. He was a retired farmer and worked for Henningtori Publishing.

Co. in Wolfe City for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ladonia. In 1935, he married Ruth Grady. Surviving are his wife; a son, Jerry Reel of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Virginia Ann McNiel of Rockwall and Rebecca Branscome, Santa Barbara, four sisters, Florence Bean of Tyler, Lorene Jordan of Henderson, Verta Kelson of Irving, and Patricia Taylor of Marshall; 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas, in 1978. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. John Lester HUGO, Okla.

Lester, 77, of Hugo died Friday, Nov. 10, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov.

Lester was born May 17, 1912, in Soper, a son of William Leon and Lillie Corine Churchill Lester. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Messer and was a concrete worker. Surviving are three sons, Hollis Roy Lester of Whitewright, Texas, Mickie Randell Lester of Bells, 'Texas, and Johnny Alvin Lester of Grand Prairie, Texas; one daughter, Shirley Jo Wilson of Van Alstyne, Texas; three and Wallace Hugo, and Delton Lester of Mountain View, two sisters, Jocille Rogers of Hugo and Syble Wessar- ges of Paris, Texas; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. William A. (Bill) Merimon HUGO, Okla.

A. (Bill) Merimon, 95, of Sawyer, died Saturday, Nov. 11, at Rose Haven Health Care Center in Hugo. Graveside services will be held at Restland Cemetery in Boswell at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov.

14. Lampton- Mills and Coffey Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Mr. Merimon was born Sept. 5, 1894, in Weatherford, Texas, a son of Joseph and Victoria Gulp Merimon.

He was a farmer. Surviving are two sons, Lois Merimon of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Jack Merimon of Soper; two brothers, Joe Merimon of Atoka, Okla. and Jim Merimon of Trinity, Texas; three sisters, Josie Martin of Antlers, Bertha Allan of Dallas and Helen Presley of Sweeney, Texas; seven grandchildren, and 20 great- grandchildren. Les Doremus HUGO, Okla. Les Doremus, 56, of Fort Towson, died Wednesday, Nov.

8, in Choctaw Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at the Sawyer Cemetery at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Doremus was born Feb.

7, 1933, in Paterson, a son of Abraham and Helen Stagg Doremus. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Pahrump, Nev. He was a machinist and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Nevada and Lake Raymond Gary Association. Surviving are a son, Robert Doremus of Fort Towson; a daughter, Annette Doremus of Fort Towson; two brothers, Chuck Doremus of San Monica, Calif, and Abraham Doremus of Toms River, one sister, Mary West of Levitts, Pa. Winnie Aurle Sims Winnie Aurie Sims, 86, wife of William H.

Sims, 2540 Ridgeview, died at Medical Plaza Nursing Home at 12:05 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov.

17, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Prairie Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sims was born Feb. 17, 1903, in Red River County, a daughter of William Ryan Wilson and Maggie Garrett Wilson. She attended Emberson schools and East Texas State University. She taught school for several years at Emberson, Cato and West Post Oak.

She moved to Montana and taught school there. She first married Eural W. Sandefer who died in 1962. She married Mr. Sims on Feb.

15,1966. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Sarah Sandefer of Dallas; two sons, Dwayne Sandefer of Vista, Calif, and William Sandefer of Wylie; one stepson, Harold Sims of Boulevard, 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Bonnie Skeen of Sumner, and a brother, Joe W. Wilson of Monroe, Wis. Melvin Carl Young Sr. Melvin Carl Young Sr, 64,403 S.

Murray, Tishomingo, died at St. Joseph's Hospital Sunday, Nov. 12. Pry and Gibbs transferred the body to Smith Funeral Home in Tishomingo where services will be held at the First Baptist Church Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Joey Lansdale will officiate, and burial will be in Tishomingo City Cemetery. Mr. Young was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Caney, a son of Grover C.

and Johnnie Nixon Young. He married Doris C. Akers on April 4,1947, in Caney. He was a retired city employee in Tishomingo and was a member of the First Baptist Church there. He ser.

Jasper David Puckett Jasper David Puckett, 70, 429-lOth NE, died Monday, Nov. 13, in St. Joseph's Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov.

15, in Bright- Holland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry and the Rev. V.O. Kyle officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

21, 1918, in Cunningham, a son of Dave and Shopronia Kennedy Puckett. He married Aline Williams in 1946. She died in 1973. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and served in the Army during World War H. He was aretired carpenter.

Surviving are his father who lives in Bogata; one son, Randy Puckett of Rockwall; one daughter, Margie Callaway of Mesquite; three grandchildren, Pamela Kerr, David Paul Lancaster, and Jeremy Puckett; one great-granddaughter, Kala Kerr, and three brothers, Gaston Puckett of Bogata, George Puckett of Mesquite and Jerrald Puckett of Norman, Okla. Audrey Mae Runyan CLARKSVILE Audrey Mae Runyan, 69, of Avery died Sunday, Nov. 12, at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.

14, in the Avery Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Robby Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the English Cemetery by Clarksville Funeral Home. Mrs. Runyan was bom in Avery on Sept.

29, 1920, a daughter of James and Nina Rosser Burkett. She married Fred Runvan on Dec. 15, 1937, in DeKalb. 'She was a Baptist. Surviving are her husband; one son, Melvin Runyan of Avery; four daughters, Shirley Barder of Dallas, Viva Smith of Mesquite, Corene Hines of Richardson, and Lorene Beers of Avery; one brother, Clarence Burkett of Avery; 15 grandchildren, and 14 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Joe Runyan. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Man forced off road, then beaten, robbed Local Weather A 19-year-old man was the victim of a strong-arm robbery Saturday when a small black pickup forced his car from the road in the 400 block of 28th Street NW.

According to police reports, he was beaten and kicked by his assailants, who made off with $59. Police are searching for the pickup marked by orange fog lights on its bumper, according to reports. A PITT BULL dog was taken Saturday from the 10 block of 27th Street NW along with a gas heater from the residence. The items stolen were valued at $389. A 1979 Chevrolet two-door, Texas license number 596WBZ, was reportedly stolen from the Paris Lanes parking lot, 2331 N.

Main according to police reports. The car is valued at $500. TWO BURGLARIES of businesses occurred between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of Lamar Avenue.

Fifty dollars in change was taken from Kwik-Kopy, 2330 Lamar according to police. At the time of the report, Taniki's Trim Cuts had not been able to compile a list of items stolen from that business. Both businesses were entered by breaking out the front glass doors. Damage to each door was estimated at $300. FOUR DALLAS newspaper stands were taken over the weekend from various locations around the city.

The stands, valued at $1,210, were taken from the 1600 and 2100 blocks of South Church Street, the 700 block of Graham Street and the 800 block of West Washington Street. According to police reports, it is believed about $8 in change was in the stands when they were stolen. A THEFT of a residence in the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Drive resulted in the loss of- a 19-inch color television, a microwave oven and a box of fishing tackle. A BURGLARY Saturday resulted in the loss of $2,425 in jewelry and cash from a residence in the 1800 block of Neatherly Street. Two diamond rings, a five-diamond necklace and $25 cash were reportedly taken.

According to police, entry was gained by prying open the door. Though discovered Saturday, the burglary of vacant house in the 1000 block of 2nd Street NE could have occurred any time since September. Taken from the house were a refrigerator, a 19-inch black-and- white television, a kitchen stove and a set of mattresses. No value was given for the items. Other reported activity included five assaults, four thefts, four reports of criminal mischief, two burglaries of residences, a report of lost property, a report of criminal trespassing, a report of found property, a report of harassing phone, calls, a report of a missing person, a liquor-law violation, a report of possible child abuse, a report of vandalism, a burglary of a vehicle and four traffic accident.

THE LAMAR COTJNTY Sheriffs Department reported the death of a 7-month-old child is being investigated by an autopsy ordered by Justice of the Peace Cecil C. Kuykendall. According to a deputy's report, bruises on the child raised the questions about the death. Saturday morning. A 45-YEAR-OLD Powderly man was arrested Sunday night on two counts of assault with bodily injury. The man was arrested when deputies answered a call of a family disturbance on FM 906. Over the weekend, constables Randy Boren and Billy Foreman arrested a man on U.S. Highway 27l North for driving, while intoxicated.

Boren also arrested a man in Blossom for public intoxication and answered a call of a family disturbance. Justice of the Peace L.Z. "Pete" Wilkerson denied bond on Anthony James Daniel Rodgers on a motion to revoke his probation. Other reported activity included a welfare concern in Biossom, grass fires at Blossom and the Maxey community, a report of criminal mischief at the Lamar County Courthouse, a'report of criminal mischief at Blossom, a burglary of a on Texas Highway 24 South, a report of a family disturbance in Blossom and a shop fire at Forest Chapel. At 8 a.m.

Monday, there were 117 Lamar County inmates, 106 in the Lamar County Jail, 10 in Upshur County and one in Gregg County.
