currently collaborating on a book with Peter Straub author of Ghost Story A number of King's works have been made into major motion pictures including and "The Shining He wrote the screenplay (or his next major movie "Creepshow" in which he also stars The film will be released in October King graduated in 1970 from the University of Maine at Orono with a degree In English He taught from 1971 to according to UMPI President Constance Carlson The event hich is free to the public Is sponsored by the humamtu division at UMPI and marks the second lecture in a senes named after Dr George Bowman former chairman of the division Bowman now retired resides with his wife Kathleen on Little Cranberry Island The choice of King to be the second George Bowman lecturer by the division was a logical selection University faculty members were interested ui a nationally known person who was the product of a liberal arts education and who possessed literary skills and talents King has published Monday There are still openings in several classes recreation officals said Classes are being offered for adults 3 to-5-year-olds and infants There will be a three-week session offered through harvest for youth interested in beginner advanced beginner swimmer and intermediate instruction There is also a class offered in from 7 to 8d Monday with a women's swim from 8 to 9 Classes for infants 3-to-5 The speaker Wesley English a general surgeon from Portland and an active volunteer of the American Cancer Society since 1972 spoke on "Cancer Information for the 80s" Dr English mentioned new early-de-tection devices He said he believed there will be a reduction in cancer deaths in the next 10 years in which diet would play a role resident Thomas Summerson Jr distributed reports of
