yesterday decided that $25000 would be required to pay In tersection costs In street improvements this year The board forwarded a re quest for an appropriation of that amount to City Controller Harry Wallace Mr Wallace already had received requests for apprpriations of $6000 for water and $10000 for lights Street Intersection cost was provided for in the budget to the extent of $25000 but about $27000 will be required for work ordered in 1910 but not completed until this year Board members say they expect the additional appropriation to cover all street inter sections for the year A petition Insurance business He was known there as Joseph Ward He left there eb 2 with about $1500 in alleged stolen insurance premiums it is said At that time local officers were in search of him and gained their knowledge of his whereabouts through a circular bearing his picture under the name of Ward sent out by the Canadian police department The clew was followed up but Wood it is said had gone to Minneapolis By watching the woman in the case who it is said is from Indianapolis the police found Wood at Minneapolis but before they could arrest him he made his es cape Prior to leaving Minneapolis he left notice at the postoffice to forward his mail to Northfield and this gave the police the clew that led to his ar rest The first alleged Irregularities in the conduct of Wood here developed from deals in lots at Irvington where it is alleged he sold real estate In which he had no title and accepted money Later he was charged with having uttered forged notes When Wood will be arraigned has not been determined by Prosecutor Baker It has been intimated however that he will be taken into Criminal Court for a preliminary hearing as soon as his phys ical condition will permit All of former friends appar ently had deserted him yesterday and no one besides newspaper men called at the jail He made no requests for an attorney While the jail physician was attending him he inquired as to
