Like the nation for which it DEAR ABBY Try A Little Subtlety! Abigail Van Buren DEAR ABBY: I am 22 and Don is 26. We've been dating (steadily) tor nearly two years and I'm sure it's love. There is only one thing we have ever fought about. and that is my make-up. Don doesn't want me to wear any make-up at all! Abby, I am no natural beauty, and I NEED make-up.

I feel positively naked without it. I don't wear a lot compared to most girls. use a foundation base, just a hint of rogue and a tiny bit of blue eye shadow. Being a dishwater blonde. my eyebrows 'and eyelashes are practically invisible, SO I need a touch of eyebrow pencil and mascara.

I use an eye liner. but that is considered tashionable these days. The lipstick I use is so pale it can hardly be noticed. Everyone else thinks I look great. Last Saturday night Don told me I looked like (If I used the word, this would never get.

in the paper.) We had a terrible fight over it and asked him to take me home. We haven't spoken since. Abby, I do love Don. He would make a wonderful husband if it weren't for this thing he has against my using cosmetics. What do you suggest I do? DEPRESSED DEAR DEPRESSED: Kiss and make up.

But in the future, "make-up" Biore subtly. DEAR ABBY: I was a widow for 16 years. I met a man and married him before I knew vary much about his ways. I have worn pants, around the house and sometimes to work because they are comfortable and convenient. He never objected to my wearing pants until after we were married.

Now he is making a big thing about it. I like to do my housework and marketing in pants and alway's have. When my husband sees me in pants, he acts like a madman and says he won't look at. me until put on a dress. He says I look ridiculous in pants.

Abby. I am 52 years old, weigh 140 pounds and 5'7'. I am not fat and I don't wear tight pants. W'e have had some pretty bad times over this and have almost separated twice because of it. I think if he really loved me he would let me wear pants.

He says if I really loved him. I'd wear dresses. I would like your advice. LIKES PANTS DEAR LIKES: It is not anusual for a man to want to be the only one in his family to Wear pants. Let him.

It's a small sacrifice to keep the peace. DEAR ABBY: What do Von think an eleven-year-old girl should do to get her allowance raised? My jobs around the house are to make beds, wash dishes, dust, keep my own room clean, set the table. clear the table and empty the trash. And all for a measly 55c a week. I've talked to my mother about it and she says, "It's all we can afford, honey." Then she drops it.

What do you think? DEAR I think that you earn Four allowance. which is commendable. But if that's all Four mother can afford, you ought to drop it, honey. DEAR ABBY: So the father of girls is complaining. Ha! I have a husband.

3 sons and my brother living here. I'm the only woman in the house and with all the fighting, wrestling and arguing the place is like a madhouse. I can't put my car in the garage because they are always building something there that never gets finished. I can't get in the bathroom because one of the men is always taking a shower, shaving ol' polishing his shoes. There is no room for my soiled laundry because of all the greasy clothes they leace behind after trying to fix somebody's car.

I can't find a place to sit down because of the tools, TV and radio parts lying around. I can choke on their cologne. I iron 15 to 20 pairs of trousers a week and too many shirts to count. If I manage to live through it until the boys are married, they'll probably bring their wives here to live. I'll trade places with "Father Of Girls" any day.
