The 2009 survey of bacteria found on home surfaces in eight countries, including the U.S., shows that the kitchen re- mains the source of the most germy surfaces. Kitchen cloths and sponges were the biggest source of bacteria, followed by sink faucets. Kitchen cloths, sponges People frequently use sponges or cloths to wipe germs from surfaces in the kitchen. As a re- sult, of kitchen sponges in U.S. homes failed the hygiene test by having high levels of bac- teria, according to the Hygiene Council. The council recom- mends running sponges through the dishwasher regularly and washing kitchen cloths on the hot cycle in the washing ma- chine. The annual rock roll traveling sum- mer circus set up seven stages in Fresno for the fifth straight year. Elliott Lef ko, of concert promoter Gold- envoice, estimated the crowd at about 6,000 at 3:50 p.m., with people still coming as high schools let out. KSEE has produced the local news program for KAIL since September 2006, but been a struggle for ratings, especially against the the KMPH (Channel 26) 10 p.m. news. Matt Rosenfeld, general manager, says now his station can concentrate solely on content for the local NBC affiliate. KAIL program director Bob Jen- kins says he was happy with work, and it his choice to end it. It was KSEE management who suggested the joint project three years ago.
