'foBTJI CAROLINIAN. FAYETTEVILLE THE TRUE SECRET OF HEALTH. Th human I body is a complicated and. deUeate machine, and readily become out of order. People axe constantly abusing their health by neglect, and violent excitement of the various organ oflife.

At such, times nature makes strong efforts to carry on her functions, in spite of causes which threaten their speedy destruction. To aasint nature, it is necessary that some active remedy used in medicine should be resorted to, and among the many offered to the public, great care is necessary in making choice. There is none however, that exerts a more beneficial influence, or more energetic and active than Clickener's Sugar Coated Vegetable rills, as they enter immediately into the blood, and their virtues are speedily circulated throughout the whole system. They are com-1 posed of ingredients wholly vrjgetable in their nature, and are sure to eradicate every vestige of disease, SAMUEL J. HINSDALE is the sole agent for Fayetteville and vicinityf; Wm.

B. Mosby who says he has followed the Mississippi river 20 years, gives his opinion of the cause of th constant rising of that river. He says that hes remember? when the Mississippi was not emba iked with levees above the mouth of Red River. In those days the Mississippi was from 50 to miles wide, the times of its highest frer ets, spreading ortT an immense valley from as high up a3 Helena. jNow it is not more than amilo wide.

This immense spreading out of the waters a place of deposit for the mass5 of sediment which is now forced down the channel of theXriver, and is filling up the mouth and ti bottom of the river, high up above New Orleans. In this way he accounts for the necessity raising trie levee every year or two; not lat there is any more water in the as the bottom of the river Correspondence of the Carolinian. Washington, D. Oh! we do love the looks of old Sol, I when, like the girls, he tries to look his prettiest. We notice frequent arrivals of persons who have returned, not from California, but after they had been half way there, more or less. Now, to our mind, it was a merciful Providence that put some little difficulties in their way, to cause them to return. One of the great obstacles appears to be, that they could not sleep on a feather bed every night during their journey. Such tender creatures were unworthv as IlIT 5s 1849.

Extraordinary surgical operation. We learn, says the Boston Journal, that Dr. Warren, of thi city, recently took from the stomach of an Irish girl, at the Massachusetts general hospital, by means of an incision, a tape worm 41 feet and 11 inches in length. The operation was performed while the sufferer was under the influence of ethr. She observed, in coming to her senses, "Oh!
