Well Western had lost its lost four games scoring Just two touchdowns while Evansville had been rolling along to six bouncing Victories and piling up 31 points a game A Western team that had scored only 61 points in seven previous games almost equalled that production in 60 furious It was a game without a hero Or a game with 30 of them It was a game that really started 10 games ago in a 21-13 upset loss to this same Evansville team It was a game that was really 10 frustrating games long a fantastic streak in which the Hiiltoppers were buried under an avalanche of missed opportunities It was all the pent-up fury of those 10 games that this Western team loosed yesterday In the greatest scoring bombardment since a right tackle on second down for the counter The same boy kicked the point Western 33-0 Now came lone touchdown drive a 49-yard march that ended when Fullback Dick Matthews caromed off tackUb on third down from three yards out A 32-yard forward-lateral from Sinclair to Don bowl-over burst disassembling a four-man reception committee Just short of the goal-line Bagby kicked goal Western 46-6 What a performance that line 4 Attacking behind a suddenly lightning-fast and all but faultless line the Hiiltoppers stormed over the goal once in the first period and twice in each of the last three -quarters and most amazingly of all held an Evansville team which with 253 points is the school's all-time record scorer to a mere six points -Aside from Its one 40-yard third-quarter touchdown drive which Again it took Just six plays for Western to drill 5Q yards Chambliss who had scrambled for gains of 25 and 24 yards scored on a six-yard dart over right tackle Western 28-0 Freshman Delaine Simpson stole a Dick Sinclair pass on the Evasville 46 and returned 42 yards to the four Brantley dove over being the equal of that Incomparable 48-6 Homecoming win over Eastern in 1952- And that team of last year that won seven in a row would not have had any business on the
