m. The first of four Sunday school Basketball league titles w-as decided Saturday evening when First U. B. clinched the championship of the Western division of the Intermediate league by registering its tenth straight victory. Although the league schedule still has three weeks of play remaining, First U.

B. holds a three-game lead and draws a bye on one of the remaining nights and as a result can lose its last two games and still retain the title. Trinity Evangelical scored its tenth consecutive triumph in the Eastern division but this title may not be decided until the final night of play in the league as Trinity holds only a two-game lead and has three games remaining two of which are with the runner-up Zion Reformed quintet and the third-place Christ Lutheran aggregation. Intermediate Eastern Zion Reformed's thrilling extra-period victory over Zion Lutheran by a 32 to 27 score was the highlight of play in this division. R.

Hoffmon scored four of the winners' five points in the overtime session. Decided scoring advantages in the second and third quarters enabled Trinity Evangelical to defeat First Presby, 37 to 24. Kehr featured for the winners. Christ Lutheran doubled the count on First Methodist to register a 30 to 15 triumph. The scores: ZION LUTH.

N. YORK RES. ork Hi3h ins On Barton's Goal Long Shot In Final Seconds Beats John Harris Five. 30-29 Harrisburg, Feb. 18.

Jack Barton's field goal, in the waning seconds of play, provided the climax to a fiction-story finish by oach Snaps Emanuel's York High cagers as they nosed out a 30 to 29 victory over the John Harris quintet in a Central Pennsylvania Scholastic league game here last night. With only 41 eeconds of play remaining and Harris in possession of the ball York's doom appeared sealed and when Robison scored a field goal to stretch HarrUs' lead to three points, victory for the locals seemed certain. York gained possession of the ball following Robison's goal and there remained 21 seconds of play. Billy Dielil dribbled down the court and dropped in a sensational one-hand shot to cut Harris' lead to a single point. A wild pass by a Harris player gave York possession of the ball out-of-bound and Wasser passed the ball onto Barton who was stand ing near mid-court, off to one aide, and he let go with a long shot that dropped through the cords with less than five seconds to play to give York the victory.

York 6tarted slowly and trailed 8 to 4 at the quarter. A spirited York rally gave Y'ork the lead in the sec ond quarFer and York managed to maintain a 16 to 14 edge at the half despite the fact that Coach Emanuel was forced to withdraw Wasser from the game in this "Quarter when he drew his third personal foul. Harris battled back and tied the score by the end of the third quarter. York's offensive power was dealt a blow in the last quarter when Coldrn was banished on fouls. Gibbs, former Hannah Penn star, finished out the game at Coldren's position and performed in commendable fashion- Wasser returned to action late in the third period and played the remainder of the contest without drawing his fourth foul.

The York High reserves scored a 35 to 27 victory over thj John Harris jay-vees. Plank paced the York attack and Higley did the bulk of the scoring for the losers. Wednesday evening the York cagers will entertain the Shamokin High quintet Shamokin High has won its last nine straight games and its most recent victory was over Williamsport. Shamokin does not compete in a league and must win a certain percentage of its games to be permitted to compete in the eliminations for the state championship. The team already has wnn enoueh games to be eligible for the championship competition.

F. T. defense, the York Collegiate Institute cagers made merry Saturday night against Patton Trade school, of Elizabethtown, and won by a 43 to 27 score. Earlier last week the Orange and White cagers had downed Franklin and Marshall academy in a game at Lancaster, 34 to 33. With two such impressive victories as these in three days' time, Yorkers are now awaiting Saturday night to ascertain whether these successes are sudden and inconsistent spurts or whether this club molded together by Archie McVicker from a squad of only eight men has finally found its stride.

Saturday night's foe at Phineas Davis High will be Chestnut Hill academy, of Philadelphia, always a serious threat in Quaker City scholastic ranks. Y. C. I. Ahsad At Quarter, 12-5 The Orange and White tossers were slow in starting against Patton Trade, W.

Turner, who was destined to be the visitors' scoring hero, sinking an uncanny shot for a field basket soon after the start to give Patton a 2 to 0 lead. Patton led again at 4 to 2, thanks to another field basket by W. Turner. About three minutes had elapsed and Y. C.

I. by now had decided Pat-ton's zone was vulnerable to "set" shots from outside the foul circle and the locals started to let them fly. Captain Jackie Shellenberger, Phil Baker ahd Bob Bowersox never were in better form and by quarter-time Y. C. I.

was ahead at 12 to 5 and by hafl-time at 28 to 11. Each of these boys tallied four field goals during Y. C. commendable first-half drive, and Austin Test, entering the game as a sub for Dcller before the first quarter ended, also went on a scoring spree, sinking two field goals in the first half and three in the second. Zimmerman's Work Improved Although not scoring, the improved work of Zimmerman was another feature from a Y.

C. viewpoint This boy, like Test, had never played basketball until this year. Zimmerman's work was so praiseworthy that he got the call to start the second half. Content to hold the lead, Y. C.

I. let up on its powerful attack in the second half, but Captain Jackie Shellenberger hit the basket three more times, giving him seven field goals for the game. However, V. Turner, Patton forward, carried off the individual scoring honors with eight field goals and two fouls. His brother, S.

Turne scored the remainder of Pat-ton's points. Y. C. I. Jay-Vees Victors The Y.

C. I. jay-vees registered another triumph, outclassing' the Room 13 team from the" high school by a 32 to 8 score. Stauffer and Rosenmiller were the leading scorers, but all of the Y. C.
