But the next time Okla- OU-NU Key Is In Line Continued From Page 1-D pull the Tigers within 6-3 with 3:41 remaining in the first half. The Tigers had to battle from behind all day in their bid to keep hopes for a Big Eight title tie alive. They fell behind. 6-0, when Shields took a Daryl Krugman punt on the Oklahoma 35 and scampered down the east sideline in front of the Sooner bench 65 yards for a touchdown. But around these three scoring occasions there was little offense evident from either side of the field with Missouri responsible for most of the lack of offense in both camps.

The Tigers obviously had no offense other than quarterback Gary Lane and the Soon- crs had to worry little about anyone in a gold jersey other than the sophomore quarterback Meanwhile, the Sooners who will battle Nebraska next Saturday in Lincoln for the Eight title, showed some fine running backs but with the exception of Grisham's like charges up the middle and an occasional spring around the outside by Shields, the Tiger defense was tough. Next battle for the Big Eight title and the Orange Bowl trip that goes with it very well could be decided in the line. Nebraska ly will show the Sooners more offense than they encountered here Saturday. The big question could be: Can line stop OU the way Missouri did0 only offensive threat was Lane rolling out on a run or pass and the Tiger signal-caller found Sooner pass defense vulnerable at times especially up the middle, completing 10 of 25. But the Sooners also had little else to worry about, allowing them to catch three of aerials with all of them coming at key points.

Three lost fumbles also cost the Tigers, one of them coming at the Sooner seven- yard line at the end of the first half. Lane had hit Harry Abell with a pass at the seven for a first down, but the Missouri end tumbled and Oklahoma recovered. Had Missouri been able to move in with this drive and score the Timers may have had a different ball a here Saturday. Although the point spread was more, Oklahoma quite measure up to the Nebraska performance here two weeks ago in some respects: Sooners gained only 229 yards rushing, compared to nearly 300 by the Huskers against Missouri. and Missouri both ran nearly the same number of plays, 81-72, while the Huskers held nearly a 2-1 advantage over the Tigers.

drives here Saturday were stopped by a Missouri defense while Nc- i drives against same Tigers suffered penalties. When Nebraska plays host to Oklahoma Saturday in the Big Eight title test, both will take unbeaten league marks into the game and Oklahoma will be going for its 17th straight Big Bright win. The payoff came on a Miller to Williams aerial from the four-yard line. But there were only 51 seconds left in the game. The Pokes went for two-pointer, but it was broken up by Dick Callahan. They attempted an onside kick, but it was scooped up by Ron Michka and the Huskers killed the clock.

Although Miller was at his best in the second half, he was reasonably effective all day, completing 19 of 32 for 165 yards. Nine of them went to Jacobsen for 105 yards. It was his aerials which led to the Cowboy field goal from the 20-yard line. It came right after the Cornhuskers had opened the scoring for the day. Nebraska, blowing and cold with big gainers and failures, moved into State territory the first two times it had the ball, but tally.

But the third time was a charm. With Duda and Willie Ross doing the running, the Huskers zipped 55 yards in nine plays with Joe McNulty going over from the two two plays deep in the second period. Dave Theisen kicked his first of two conversions for the day, missing on the third attempt. The Cowboys came back to get the field goal, but it only brought on another of those punishing long range drives by Nebraska. This 70-yarder Included three passes by Duda.

Only two of the plays were for any distance, a 15-yard run by Bruce Smith on the draw and another 15-yarder by Duda.
