suppression of what he calls the second revolution in Germany leaves much to be desired In fact the world is just about as much mystified as to the real inwardness of the blood-letting as it was on the day of the slaughter June 30 1934 Hitler makes it appear that the safety of Germany was at stake and that the lives of of thousands of innocent might have been sacrificed if he had not acted promptly and with murderous fury However that may be it is perfectly apparent to most people that the reign of Hitler as dictator of Germany was jeopardized So Hitler became the of Germany and adjudged 77 alleged plotters guilty of conspiracy Claiming that they under the control of Ernst Roehm were planning to usurp the governments he felt himself justified in striking a hard and harsh blow that has been unparalleled in modern history All of which is very interesting but not very convincing to those who wish to study the situation undeterred by fear of consequences to themselves finds itself in just the position which Vermont would be in if the latter state were to be deprived of its medical college Maine's only medical college that one which was connected ith Bowdoin college went out of existence in 1920 because of lack of funds to carry on the work of the institution As a result of the loss of that medical college the smaller communities find themselves deprived of medical practitioners because Maine students who go away to other medical colleges generally locate in some state other than Maine The doctors in the smaller communities have migrated to the larger centers of population thus adding to the shortage of medical men in the smaller and more remote communities The situation has become so acute that a report to the state planning board by the commission named to investigate Maine's medical situation indicates there is great need of instituting a medical college It will of course ftike a great deal of motley to start and to continue a good medical college but Maine would undoubtedly find it to its advantage to undertake the thing Although having a fine medical college Vermont finds it difficult to keep the rural communities sufficiently served by medical men That situation in Vermont would be immeasurably worse if the state were to he deprived of the Medical college connected with' the University of Vermont tm South Fayston Misses
