But the reporter, Lisa Olson, said in a statement Saturday that she was sticking by her story and was also willing to take a lie detector test. Mowatt took the test in Miami on Monday, The Boston Globe reported. The 5-hour test was administered by polygraphist George Slattery Sr.

What happened here is a disgrace." Fraley said Slattery and his associates drew test questions from statements made by Olson about the alleged conduct of Mowatt and four other Patriot players in the team locker room Sept. 17. Olson has said the players approached her while she was conducting an interview, positioned themselves inches from her face and made sexually suggestive remarks. Mowatt was fined $2,000 and apologized to Olson, although he denied making lewd comments or gestures. PASADENA Karen Crouse, a newspaper reporter covering Saturday's Arizona-UCLA game, said she was verbally harassed in the Arizona dressing room while conducting postgame interviews.

After the 25th-ranked Wildcats returned to Tucson, a spokesman said he wasn't aware of the incident but issued the apology demanded by Mark To-maszewski, sports editor of Crouse's paper, the Orange County Register. "I apologize to Karen, and I deeply regret the incident," said Butch Henry, the school's assistant athletic director for media relations. "We have attempted to maintain an open locker room for the past eight years and have done so without incident in both football and men's basketball. We will discuss the incident and make sure there's no repeat," he added. Henry said the Athletic Department would not comment further until after sorting out the details.

Crouse said an unidentified, unclothed Arizona player approached her in the Arizona locker room at the Rose Bowl. "What are we, in New England?" Crouse quoted him as saying. The player was referring to a Sept. 17 incident at Foxboro, when Boston Herald reporter Lisa Olson allegedly was harassed by several members of the New England Patriots. Crouse, 27, said after she finished interviewing Arizona placekicker Gary Coston, an unclothed player tried to get her attention by calling out to her.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba The CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers barred all members of the media from their locker room after Friday night's game rather than allow a female radio reporter to enter. The policy, which was designed to comply with the Canadian Football League's equal access rule, pleased CBC Radio's Robin Brown. But it left Bomber management, who made the decision, and Bomber players, who it ostensibly protected, unhappy. SCORE BY INNINGS Pittsburgh 001 210 100-5 Cincinnati 400 010 000-5 DP-Clncinnati 2. UCSC evened its record to 3-3 overall, and 2-0 against Division III teams. UC Santa Cruz spikes Mills SANTA CRUZ The UC Santa Cruz women's volleyball team enjoyed a number of firsts Saturday. "This win really takes the pressure off the girls," UCSC Coach David Noble said of his team finally breaking the ice at home. The Slugs got great backrow defense throughout the match, making 82 digs. Bucs third in water polo tourney SAN JOSE Harbor High's water polo team won its first two games in the Westside Water Polo Tournament Friday at Lynbrook High to reach the championship bracket. Saturday, however, at West Valley College, the Pirates dropped their next two games and had to settle for third place in the 16-team tourney.

Harbor defeated San Mateo, 9-4, and Lynbrook, 12-4, but lost to Homestead, 3-2, Saturday morning. "We were just terrible," said Harbor Coach Jack Dufour. "We had 15 shots on the cage and barred them all. We outshot them 4-1 but we couldn't get the ball in the cage." Down from the loss to Homestead, Harbor then proceeded to lose its next game, 8-5, to eventual champion Mountain View. Joe Barton led the Pirates in scoring for the tournament with nine goals.

Joe Michaelis and Mark Muirhead scored eight and six goals respectively. Dufour said that Neil Matthies had an outstanding tournament for the Bucs, now 15-6 overall this season.
