The Gazette and Daily, York, COUNTY Tuesday Morning, November 27, 1956 Universal Week Of Prayer Set Hanover Ministerial association schedules observance Jan. 6-11. Speakers announced. Hanover Arrangements for the local observance of the Universal Week of Prayer were completed yesterday at session of Hanover Ministerial association. The observance will be held Jan.

6 to 11 and the general theme will be "God's Word Through Prayer." Speaker for each day's services were announced as follows: Rev. Dr. J. Charles McKirachan, Pine Street Presbyterian church, Harrisburg; Rev. William E.

Yingling, Grace EUB; Rev. Glen E. Norris, Hanover Church of the Brethren; Rev. David A. Menges, Mt.

Carmel Lutheran charge; Rev. Dr. Nevin E. Smith, Emmanuel Reformed, and Rev. N.

H. Andres, Grace Reformed. The annual leadership training school formerly conducted during the month of February was changed to September for the coming year. Mrs. Jennie M.

Leese Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie May Geiman Leese, 208 Maple avenue, widow of Harry M. Leese, who died Thursday at French's convalescent home, Porters Sideling, were held yesterday at the Bucher Funeral home, Frederick street. Rev. Dr.

Harvey D. Hoover, Gettysburg, supply pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran church, officiated. Interment was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Pallbearers were Raymond Becker. Clayton Cromer, Evan Feeser, George and Robert Lawrence and Oliver Forsythe. Rotary Club Meets Charles V. Bright, field executive of Conewago Boy Scout district, presented a talk on "Scouting" last night at session of Hanover Rotary club in Hotel Richard McAllister. Thomas Weaver, Delone Catholic High school, and William Poist, Eichelberger Senior High school, completed their month with the club as student guests.

Ladies' auxiliary of Friendship Fire company, Pennville, will meet this evening at 7:30 o'clock in the engine house, Frederick street. Gamma Rho chapter, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, will meet this evening at 7:45 o'clock at the Victory restaurant, Carlisle street. Xi Psi chapter will meet at the same time at the home of Anna Kauffman, 9 Beck Mill road. The first fall meeting of the Hanover Joint PTA council will be held this evening at 8 o'clock in the assembly room of Penn street school instead of Hanover Junior High school as previously announced. York Springs RD Girl, Dillsburg Man Married York Springs -Miriam Byers, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Melvin Byers, York Springs RD, and Homer Cocklin, son of Mrs. Emma Cocklin and the late Guy Cocklin, Dillsburg, were married at 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at Chestnut Grove Lutheran church, York Springs RD, by the pastor, Rev.

Norman Grove. Mrs. Cocklin, a graduate of York Springs High school, is employed by the Public Utilities Commission, Harrisburg. The bridegroom is a graduate of Dillsburg High school and is associated with the Cocklin Funeral home, Dillsburg. The couple left on a wedding trip to Florida and other suthern states.

WORKERS Red Run Mrs. Glenn Snyder served as chairman of the United Fund drive in Washington township. She was assisted by Mrs. William Walton, Mrs. Earl Elicker, Mrs.

Lewis Laity, Mrs. Kenneth Fogle, Mrs. Lewis Altland and Mrs. Richard Deardorff, Hanover Church Willed $1,000 Hanover Bequests totaling $1,000 to St. Matthew's Lutheran church are contained in the will of the late Lillian M.

Dunkinson, of here, probated yesterday in York county register of wills office. Of this amount, $500 is in memory of her father and mother, the late Cook and Sophia Dunkinson, and $250 each in the memory of her sister, Carrie Patterson, and herself. A sum of $250 is to be placed in trust and the income is to be used to place flowers in the church every Mother's Day in memory of the Dunkinson family and Carrie Patterson. Another $500 is to be placed in trust and the income is to be used to place flowers on the Cook Dunkinson lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery on each Memorial Day and a wreath of pines on Christmas Day.

The estate is tentatively valued ta $20,000 in personal property and $6,500 in real estate, a residence at 312 East Middle street. Other bequests are to relatives. Charles H. Neiman Norman G. Dunkinson Jr.

Glatfelter, Hanover RD 5, was arrested for failure to yield the right of way to another vehicle when his car collided with another automobile at the intersection of two alleys in the rear of First Methodist church yesterday at 8:25 a.m. 'The information was with Justice of the Peace William Y.

Naill, Frederick street. Borough police said the other car by Mrs. Mildred M. Eichelberger, 38 Penn street. No one was injured.

Damage to the Eichelberger car was estimated at $150 and to the Glatfelter vehicle at $10. Richard Bennett Selected Hanover Legion Sons Head Hanover Richard A. Bennett was elected captain of the Sons of the American Legion at a reorganization meeting last night in Harold H. The second and fourth Mondays of each month were set for regular ties meeting nights. Future activiplanned were: December, movies; January, swimming party, and February, basketball. Joseph's Catholic church, Hanover, named pastor of Our Lady of Visitation church, Shippensburg. Hanover -Rev. Louis W. Forgeng, who has served five years as assistant pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic church, Baltimore street, has been appointed pastor of Our Lady of the Visitation church, Shippensburg, according to an announcement made yesterday by Most Rev.

George L. Leech, Bishop of Harrisburg diocese. Father Forgeng, a native of Scranton, came here Nov. 23, 1951, from Sacred Heart church, Harrisburg. He also has served as assistant pastor at Sacred Heart, Lancaster; St.

Francis Xavier, Gettysburg; St. Joseph's, Lancaster, and St. Michael's, Sunbury. He will assume his new post Monday. Abbottstown Fire Co.

Aux. Donates $1,000 To Renovate Kitchen Abbottstown The fire company recently received $1,000 from the Ladies 'auxiliary to finance renovations in the kitchen of the fire house. A $75 donation from the East Berlin Drum and Bugle corps will be used to install two shuffleboard courts. A report on renovations for the social room and kitchen was given at a recent company meeting. Mrs.

Dutt, Calcutta, India, journalist and an observer at the United Nations since 1949, will be guest speaker at session of Hanover Dutch Treat club tonight at 7:30 o'clock in the Moose home, Broadway. Dinner will precede the address. A political prisoner for two years as the result of his participation in Gandhi's "Quit India" movement against the British, he will use as his topic, "Cows, Caste and Before coming to America as a press officer in the UN, he was news editor for the National Call in his native country and also served as correspondent for that paper.

Gifts For Servicemen A total of 126 packages have been shipped by Hanover Red Cross chapter to a port of embarkation to be placed on board troop ships for distribution to military personnel on Christmas Day. The packages were donated to the chapter by community organizations. The project was in charge of the chapter's service to military camps and hospitals committee, of which Mrs. Bradford M. Ralph Long is vice-chairman. Fund Drive Extended The Hanover division campaign in the annual York County United Fund drive has been extended until Saturday John S. Hollinger, general chairman, announced yesterday. Total contributions and pledges to date were reported as $38,006. The goal is $70,000.
