L CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP. Tests It CortntbtatM 8:1-9; 9:8, 7, 1 Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the gmc« o? Ood b* on the churches of Macedonia: How that in a great trinl of affliction, the abundance of their Joy nnd their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; Praying m with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by will of God. In so much that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish In you the same grace also. Therefore, as we abound In every tlUng. In fe.ith, nnd utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, nnd in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. 1 speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove Vthe sincerity of your love. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. But this I say. He which soweth sparingly ehall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he pur- poseth In his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity; for -God loveth a cheerful giver. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. * 0 A The International Uniform Sunday School Lesson for Oct. 21. Christian Stewardship. II Corinthians 8:1.0; 9:6, 7, 15. * • * By Win. E. Gilroy. D. D. Editor of The CongresatlonaMst ' There are few matters of church life and relationship that do not find some reference und. some suggestion of guldlnst principle In the two epistles of Paul to the Corinthians. His association with the founding of that church, his period of presence there, and his long continued interest In the Christians at Corinth have established In his counsel to these early Christians a valuable heritage for the church in successive ages. In this lesson we have the matter of Christian giving set forth in the highest way possible. Christian giving has two sides, its Godward side and its manward side. On its Godward side it is the response of love to all that the soul has received. It is the mark of a soul's unity with God, for as we give we make the law of God's gra- ciousncs the rule of our own lives On its manward side giving has this similar foundation in love, and love expresses in fellowship. Here in the very beginning of the Christian church was evidence HOW TO REDUCE VARICOSE VEINS Hub (Jently and I'pvvuril Toward IIic Heart AH tilood In Veins Flows That Wnv Many people have become despondent because they have been led to believe that there Is no remedy that will reduce Rwollen veins and bunches. If you will get a two-ounce original bottle of Moone's Emerald Oil (full strength) at any first-class drug store and apply It night nnd morning-as directed you will quickly notice an improvement which will continue until the Veliia and bunches ere reduced to normal. Moone's Emerald Oil Is a harmless, yet most powerful germicide, and two ouncea lasts a very long time. Indeed, so powerful Is Emerald OH that old chronic cores and ulcers are often entirely healed .and anyone who ia dlfnppolnted Witt) Its use can have their money refunded. All druggists oell Iota of It.—«dv. Dmr Jim: Six months ago a stone cornice, loosened by wind and rain and (/cars of wear, fell from a Main Street store building in a nearby town and killed a man. Yesterday the court awarded £w family $25,- QQQ damages from the merchant who owned and occupied the building, though he contended that he had not. neglected UK care. And the whole town learned a lesson in public liability. The case demonstrated a point on which many people arc ignorant. A n injured person whose injuries arc due either directly or indirectly to the fault of a property owner, his tenant, lessee or employees can recover damages for his injuries from that owner. The whole public thus becomes a potential liability to every building owner, who can protect himself, however, by Public Liability Insurance which takes care of his responsibilities in an accident.
