Paris Plaza traffic flow change tabled The City of Paris Traffic Safety Commission tabled a motion Tuesday evening by merchants of the Paris Plaza Shopping Center, 650 Bonham to temporarily change the flow of traffic in the 400, 500 and 600 blocks of Bonham Street.

According to James Barnett, assistant Paris police chief, the merchants asked for the change due to problems customers were having in entering the center because of drainage construction work in the area. "It was one suggested method of getting in and out of the center," Barnett said. "But I talked to the merchants, and we all agreed that it probably wouldn't help." Barnett said the change would probably cause an increase in traffic accidents due to confusion. He said the motion was tabled as a "last resort" in case the action became necessary in the future. In other action, the commission approved a request by Barnett for a "no parking zone" on DeSnong Drive from North Main to Lewis Lane.

The request was made due to a problem with cars being parked on both sides of Lewis Lane, creating hazards for emergency vehicles approaching L. P. McCuistion Medical Center. A request for a 15 mile per hour speed limit in the 1200 block of 17th Street SE was denied by the commission. The request was made by a resident of the area in response to problems with loud cars.

Barnett said the request was denied because enforcement of existing laws would remedy the situation. News ofGIs Marine Lance Cpl. Richard W.
