PAGE SIX ST. ALEANS DAILY MESSENGER SATURDAY, MAY 9, 1942 urn Music Festival Broadcast On WC AX Tonight From 8 to 8:15 Music In The Morgan Manner 9 Now Heard Over Station WWSR Music In The Morgan Manner heralds the smooth, distinctive dance music of that versatile maestro, arranger and composer, Russ Morgan, now heard on Station WWSR. This brilliant young conductor and his orchestra have attained national popularity on all the radio networks and since 1935 have gone from one triumph to another in leading theatres, and the smartest hotels and night clubs. Russ Morgan is also recognized as one of the greatest arrangers of today. Before organizing his own band he had already made a name for himself as arranger for John Philip Sousa, Victor and for the famous Jean Goldkettes orchestra of All Stars which included many names which have since become celebrities of top-ranking fame.

Russ is also a composer with many successes to his credit; he has a good tenor voice; in addition to being an acknowledged master of the piano and trombone, he plays five other instruments and is studying organ, harp and string; he has now completed a book on concertos. Yes, Russ is indeed versatile an all-around musician of highest calibre. program whose guests will include Major Frank G. Lahm, first U. S.

Army pilot, and Colonel Eddie Rickenbacker. World War I ace. A third guest, representing Americas current aerial war efforts. will be Captain William Bohnaker, recently back from Java where he downed several Japanese planes in battles over the Macassar Straits. Arrangements are being made through the cooperation of the Army for the broadcast direct from the bomber in flight.

Listeners will experience every thrill of a power dive at a practice target, with navigator, pilot and bombardier explaining their duties. The broadcast will be made from over an Army bombing target base still to be named. Major Lahm learned to fly from the Wright Brothers in the early part of the century. He will trace the development of the airplane in warfare as one who has been actively identified with every step. Rickenbacker, just back in New York from a tour of the air training bases, will give an intonate report on his findings.
