Pago IC'D Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph Colorado four Colorado residents were sc leeted to participate in the second and final round of the Western States Arts Foundation 1976 Training Awards rogram. In all, 30 artists and arts administrators from eight western states were selected in this phase of the program. William Henning, curator of the Fine Arts Collections and Special Exhibitions at the Fine Arts Center, used his award to attend a three-day Exhibition Design Workshop sponsored by the Western Association of Art Museums in Olympia, in OrHdmr 23, Artists, Administrators Selected for Awards Prosrrt am July. Tracy James of Denver used her award to attend a seminar on the origins of creativity at the University of New Mexico in September. Joe Mattys, Jr.

of Colorado College used his award to attend the workshops on acting offered at the American Theatre Association Convention in Los Angeles in August. Janet McReynolds of Boulder is using her award to attend the rehearsals and performances of her play, at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. This is the third year that the Western States Arts Foundation has conducted the Training Program. The Foundation also has on-going programs in the visual arts, design and information. It also co-sponsors and co-ordinates a variety of residency tours in the performing arts.

This year the Foundation will co-sponsor twelve professional companies on tour, including the Denver Symphony Orchestra in residence, Texas Opera Theatre. McLain Family Band and the National Theatre for the Deaf. The Foundation also co-ordinates the Dance Touring Program in the western states. Headquartered at 1517 Mar- ket, Denver, the foundation is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and other public and private sources. The foundation works in with the ten state arts agencies in the western region.
