years of waiting, after years of pain Hearts crushed and broken, time and time again Thought we wero forgotten, Justice seemed so dead But at last our President, those blessed words has said Lynchlngs are an Evil, this cannot be denied They strike the institutions, for which we gladly died Oh hear the cry of thousands, burning at the stake How pitiful God above, is justice uow awake Is our Nation's ruler thy Instrument of fate To chase this gloom of night away, and teach us not to hato This government we love so well, this thing for which wo die Hinging mid flying shot and shell until we silent blessed star of Negro hope, Hinging its light on high, Ten million voices heavenward sent, thank our awaktfned president For years we'vo hoped, for years we've prayed With faith undimmed, with hearts ufrald, Our God has heard his children cry, and answered prayers Bent up on higb We thank Thee Lord for blessings sent, through our awakened president May ho live long to do thy will, his place as president to All Upon the Immortal scroll of fame, Oh, scribe of fate, write his name And when at last earth to thee coines, for peace and rest with Thee at hooMU Oh in Thy bosom, tired and spent, take Thou our blessed president WISEMAN, Pastor of Avery Chapel, Oklahoma City, Okla, Horace McKeever Rpublican Candidate For Governor I filed for the Republican nomination for Governor to overcome the embarrassment which I thought existed because Mr Rogers, on account of ill health, was unable to accept after the nomi nation was offered him by the Convention I have lived in Enid, Oklahoma, about nineteen years and am a lawyer and proud of my profession Statements placed in a newspaper for the purpose of advertising one's qualifications for office is always more or less a hazardous business for the reason that under our form of government any qualified citizen can file for office and put any kind of bogus promise on paper in a platform The Negroes of this state have been duped and lied to so much that I feel a hesitancy in making any promise, for the intelligent members of the race have opened their eyes to the tricks that have been used to get their votes I therefore will lave my case with the recommendation which can be obtained from the colored people who live in my town of Enid and County of Garfield, and rest my case with the colored voters in the primary on what these people say about me Respectfully, HORACE McKEEVER i.
