The penalty which would have been from the point where the ball was thrown (the end zone) automatically gave the Huskers a safety. Leading by two points, 1614. the Huskers started to click, a pass from Nagle to Frank Simon for 31 yards and a first down on the State 10 setting up the Scarlet's third touchdown.

This time it was Nick Aduci'g turn, the NU fullback crossing thru the left guard from the 5 yard stripe. Reynolds missed his conversion attempt but his mates were sporting a 22 14 lead and were never to be headed. Shortly after Nebraska held State for downs around the 10, Reynolds breaking loose for 21 yards to get up to the Husker 30. With the seconds ticking away and time only for one play, Nagle spotted Bloom and hit his target around the State 40. Bloom took off like a scared rabbit but was hit around the 15 and started to stagger in.

He was finally hauled down from behind on the Wildcat three. BLOOM'S sensational kickoff return of 85 yards that started the third period scoring was even more exciting than Reynolds' scamper against MU, He reversed his field a couple of times, ran back at least twice to pick up his blockers and finally got into the clear with a couple of mates ahead of him, Reynolds' conversion on the play made it 29 14 and all Nebraska. Fran Nagle scored the final on a rush thru the middle sector from the five yard line and Reynolds again converted. THAT was all the scoring for the afternoon, Bill Glassford using his subs thru the rest of the third period and all of the fourth until the last few minutes when he sent his starting club buck into the game. They got up to the State 15 when the gun barked ending the tussle. Reynolds had a first quarter touchdown nullified, a 21 yard scamper being called back when an official detected one of the NU linemen offside.

WHILE the victory was a thriller for at least the first three periods (there was no scoring by either side in the final quarter), the Huskers gave away too many yards to the enemy. There will be a time and It could easily happen next Saturday against Iowa State or most certainly against the Sooner In the season's finale, when the Hunkers may find that they can't spot the opposition a touchdown or two and come hack and win. The Huskers had the State aerial game pretty well solved largely because they were efficient in the business of rushing the thrower. Defensively Bob Mullen stood out, making more than his share of the tackles while Walt Gehl bach was State's standout. Nebraska outdowned the Kansans, 25 to 16, showed a total of 438 by rushing and a net of 596 yards to State's even 300.

Shop Monday Husker Wildeat Play by largely to shabby tackling, couldn't stop the 'Cats from coming back, the Men of Manhattan marching 65 yards for their final scoring effort with 10 minutes gone in the quarter. Bill Wall was the big noise In State's dying assault, slipping thru for 13 yards to hit pay dirt. Estes again converted to cut the Husker lead to eight points. HERE Reynolds really swung into action, picking up gains of 11 and 14 yards and with some help from Adduci and Mueller, found the ball on the State 22 with a yard to go for a first down. But Bobby did better than that.

He went all the way on the next play but missed his try for point effort. Leading 35 to 21, the Huskers capitalized on a fumble by Hooper that was lobbied up by Rex Hoy on the Kansans 33. Adduci rammed thru for nine; Reynolds for seven and Mueller for two for a second and eight on the 15. Reynolds, on a quick opener thru the middle, went all the way standing up. He converted for his 22nd point of the afternoon.

Junior Links Post Victory Over Tech The Lincoln high school reserves gave rough treatment to their Omaha guests as they blasted the Omaha Tech re serves, 46 0 here Saturday after noon. Scoring in every period, the Junior Links rolled unchecked over the Tech reserves. Ron Johnson opened the Lincoln scoring on a reverse from 12 yards out. Sam Haupt kicked the point. From there, it was just a question as to how many points Lincoln would score against the Junior Maroons.

Don Erway, Johnson, Bill Mitchell, a pass from Erway to Bob Hamann and two consecutive touchdowns by Howard Brown on runs of 25 and 80 yards accounted for the rest of the Junior Links scoring.
