Money is the curtain that hides much of the meanness and rascality from the eyes of the world. Honesty is the best policy for a man who can't steal enough to pay a good lawyer says an exchange. We never long for. rest until we are tired and wreary, and we never crave for Heaven until the heart is sad and dreary. An alienist says 80 per cent, of the human race are sane.

Probably he never examined them when they were in love. Observer well says: Every. thing considered, where is there an other State or country that can rival North Carolina? Money don't get much chance to talk these days, it is kept to close. Let everybody turn it loose at once and give it a chance. The many friends of Sheriff.

There is no good reason why any one should go elsewhere to trade. Socrates said: "Fame is but the perfume of heroic deeds." How about the famous campaign liar and the man who carries smiling treacherous faces under one hat brim? While selling tobacco why not drop in on the "old man" and pay what you owe him on subscription to the Public Ledger as it is wTorth the price. Come on with script as it will pay paper and ink bills. The present flurry in the money centers will hardly affect the price of tobacco this unless the money panic extends aver, a period of time not looked for by the banking and tobacco people. A contemporary remarks: "laview of the panic we see that money still talks." It is hard to tell what money does do.
