All 40 Huskers Maul Wildcats, 41-0 Runners Score But Passing Instrumental By CURT MOSHER Manhattan, Kan. The Big 40-man restriction on traveling squads hurt Nebraska here Saturday, but it certainly do Kansas State any good as the Cornhuskers enjoyed a 41-0 cakwalk before 20,000 fans. The deepest Cornhusker coach Bob Devaney could go was to the likes of Charlie Winters and Ben Gregory and K-State will tell you only scratching the surface. horde of hard running backs, led by Harry Wilson, who bulled and danced for 72 yards, and aided by the passing of Fred Duda and Bob Churcbicb had a pleasant afternoon. In fact, in all but one of the touchdown drives, passing gobbled up about half the yardage. Duda had a terrific day, particularly so after a not so terrific start when he was throwing a little long and high.

But once be found the range he had his best day of the season. He connected on 8 of 15 for 103 yards. And, just as important, he have any intercepted. Duda, who also ran for 40 yards, could have been even more spectacular statistically had it not been for some penalties early in the game. He had two long runs called back, one of them for a touchdown, the latter for a clip which prevented Nebraska from scoring in the first quarter, but just barely- The Huskers scored on the first play of the second period when Wilson bolted away from the grasp of Bill Salat to score from 11 yards out.

The run, followed by Larry Conversion, climaxed a 62-yard drive in 11 plays. This drive was typical of the importance of the air gdme. On that drive Duda pitched 12 yards to Freeman White, 12 yards to Wilson, 14 yards to Dennis Richnafsky and eight to White again. From there on in it was strictly a matter of how much. For the record, the rest of the touchdowns came like this: And Away They Go 33-yard drive in three plays after only poor punt of the day with Duda pitching 16-yard passes to Wilson and Frank Solich, Tatman going over from the one.

He pitched 14 to Richnafsky, 20 to Tony Jeter and 10 to Casey. The longest runs were 12 by Wilson and Gregory, Winters going in from the one. 52-yard drive in five plays after John fumble recovery with a 22-yard pass interference play, a 23-yard halfback pass, first of the year) from Gregory to Larry Casey and the payoff seven-yard TD run by Winters the highlights.

25-yard parade in five plays with Wayne Weber at the helm after Marv Mueller intercepted Mike pass. 11-yard run was the big one and Tatman took it over from the two. Wachholtz converted three times, Ted Vactor twice and Duncan Drum missed one. Little Chance for Larry If the Huskers failed anywhere off their customary form it was in returning punts, but that was more a matter of K-State simply doing a good job. Bob Ballard kicked high and sometimes long and the coverage was superb.

Wachholtz, the national leader going into the game, have a chance to start a runback. The Huskers effectively bottled up the K-State passing game, but in doing so allowed the Wildcats, who now have the record in reverse at 0-5, enjoyed a good rushing day for them. The best K-State could do was a thrust at the Nebraska 13 at the outset of the fourth quarter. But stout play by Walt Barnes, Kaye Carstens and Lou Narish shut it off on downs. The victory for the Huskers, ranked No.

1 in the nation by UPI and second by AP, was even more impressive in view of the injury situation with the first three defensive ends and starting halfback Ron Kirkland out and Mike Kennedy missed half of this game with a shoulder injury. Whether the easy win over K-State was impressive enough to boost the Huskers to the top rating in AP polls remains to be seen. jiiiiimiiiiiiwittiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiniMiiHiiNNiiiiiniiiiiiHi vu Sports In Black Page 7C Big Eight Roundup SECllON LINCOLN.
