Page 14 The Herald, Thureday, June 23,1977 Awards given The VFW Auxiliary to Post 2366 met June 13, at the Post Home, and Poppy Chairman Mary Johnson that $778 was collected during Poppy Days. She gave poppy pins to Geneva Winkler, Doris Broeker, and Janice Garrett in appreciation for their efforts. Doris Broeker and Janice Garrett received gifts from Mary Johnson for their efforts in the membership drive, and Peg Egbert and Janice Garrett received gifts from 8th District Rehabilitation Chairman Virginia Helmer for their reporting. Certificate of Awards were received at the 8th District Conference for Legislative Reporting and participation in the Voice of Democracy program. Due to difficulty in collecting for a wedding, it was decided to make up contracts for future use.

This will include a 25 per cent payment at time of scheduling, and payment in full the night of the function. Mary Johnson presented president Janice Garrett with her past president's pin. Chairmen for the new year will include Rehabilitation, Peg Egbert; Americanism, Fern Tanner; Cancer Aid and Research, Mary Broeker; Community Activities, Marinna Seger; Hospital, Pearl Meyerholtz; Legislation, Violet Kissling; Membership, Wilma Sollman and Erma Reut- man; National Home, Esther Stetter; Publicity, Pam Fritz; Safety, Janice Garett; Poppy, Mary Johnson, and Patriotic Instructor, Mary Heidorn. Outgoing Commander Bill Aufdehar thanked the auxiliary for its help during his term in office. New Commander Frank Cissell talked to the auxiliary and expressed his desire for their continued support.

The door prize was won by Judy Johnson and the attendance prize by Pam Fritz. The July meeting will be the annual pot luck beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Auxiliary will furnish the meat, bread and coffee. Auxiliary members should bring a covered dish, table service and a wrapped or unwrapped gift for a silent auction. Dues for 1978 may be paid after July 1.

New members are charged $5.50, and continuing dues are $5. This includes $1 for cancer insurance. Accused arsonist faces murder rap MUNCIE (UPI) Charges against Leslie Gene Thompson, 35, Muncie, now include first-degree murder by arson. Authorities succeeded in identifying her through dental records as Kristine Kozik, 19, of Downers Grove, 111., a suburb south of Chicago. A sophomore and an student, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Kozik. Further attempts will be made to learn the cause of death, police said.

Tippecanoe County, state police, West Lafayette police and Purdue campus police all were working on the case. Miss Kozik resided in a sorority house at West Lafayette. A farmer discovered the nude and extensively decomposed body Tuesday in a field about five or six miles south of Lafayette, about 75 yards off a road. First only the upper part of the body was recovered, but police returned to the area Wednesday and found the rest. Whether the segmentation occurred as part of a slaying or in decomposition was not immediately known.

Deputy Coroner Martin D. Avolt said no bone fractures or other evidence of phsical abuse could immediately be found. No clothing or personal effects were found. Authorities speculated Miss Kozik may have met foul play. She was last seen driving a car she had borrowed from a sorority sister.
