ipwi Monday, Nov. 17, 1969 Gazotfe Two Arrested After Rght at Drive-in A fist fight which broke out in a west side drive in restaurant early Sunday erupted into a real hoedown involving several police officers, one of whom was struck a glancing blow by a fleeing vehicle, and led to the arrest of two principals involved. The two were identified as Robert Lee Moore, 28, and his passenger. Buddy Ray Bennett, 31, the latter being hospitalized at St. Francis Hospital after suffering a head injury in a collision at the restaurant parking lot.

Both were booked for assault and battery although Bennett was held at the hospital fca- treatment. Mo(H'e was x-rayed after complaining of chest pains but doctors reported he suffered only bruises and he was taken to the city jail. According to police reports. Officer Harry KiHa was dispatched to the White Spot drive- in-223 S. Eighth about 4:27 a m.

on a report there was a fight in progress. When Killa arrived, he was informed two men, who had jumped another patron in the restaurant, had left in a black station wagon. Killa remained at the scene and was soon joined in the area by Officers Bandit Hits Motel Norman Short and Steve randa. Soon, a man identified as Moore reentered the restaurant and an employe pointed him out as one (rf the fighters. When Killa approached, Moore ran out the front door with Killa in pursuit.

Moore allegedly jumped into the station wagon as Killa sought to hang onto his shirt. Moore rewed up motor of his vehicle and zoomed away. Killa hung on a short distance but finally was thrown to tiie side of the station wagon and had to let go. As the vehicle turned a comer in the lot. Officer Short shouted for the driver to but instead the vehicle continued on its path, directly toward Short who jumped aside at the last moment.

The left front fender struck right leg. He pulled his revolver and fired one shot into the left front tire. The station wagon then veered to the right and hit two cars parked under a canopy at the drive in. Short ran to the front of the station wag(xi, aimed his revolver at the driver and ordered him out. After a delay, Moore shut off the vehicle and got out.

Benrett, stunned when thrown to the dashboard during the collision with the parked cars, remained slumped against the right door.
