Mliaourl; llneamart, lunula Houm, Iowa; field judge, Parka Carroll, Xanana City U. mma'' llLgJ BY DON KELLOGG. This dizzying, whirling and nerve racking football season roared down the home stretch to a happy, glorious ending for the Cornhuskcrs of Nebraska Saturday. Oklahoma invaded. 0 1 a.

homa was thwarted. The final score was Nebraska 7, Oklahoma 6, and some 22.000 fans left Memorial stadium delirious. They left raving. They shouted themselves into a frenzy of an other world as Major "Biff" Jones charges whipped themselves to a complete about face and won a ball game they weren't supposed to win. Principally because of Indian Jack Jacobs' active and accurate kicking toe; his nearly unerring passing arm, the Coach Dewey "Snorter" Luster's experienced hands sped away to a touchdown just before the first quarter ended.

Southerners Surprised. Plans were going along to blueprint for the southerns toward the end of the next period when blooey it happened. Just three and three quarters minutes were left in the half when the grey blue heavens seemed to explode with the lightning and fireworks of a major calamity. Jacobs took a pass from center and leaned back to heave. It was third down and 10 to go on He acted as if the feet of the ball was new to him.

He acted as if he had been shot otit of a cannon at the county fair. But Blue knew what to do. And he did it. He left the Oklahoma 32 yard line, where he did the catching in a split second. Over to the east sidelines he veered.

Then he cut downfield. As he reached the 15 yard line, Orv Matthews dove for his churning legs. But the dive was late and with nothing more than a quick prance. Blue still was going. Jacobs tried to nab him on the 5.

It wasn't any use. Blue went over cleanly and then fell breathless still hugging the bail. Schleich Adds Point. Just as if it was all in a day's work, burly Vic Schleich went back to kick the tie breaking point. Fred Metheny, the Huskers' brilliant quarterback, did the holding.

Schleich's kick took the heart right out of the goal posts. That was the end of the scoring, but it wasn't the end of the game. Exacting kicks, perfect spiralled forwards, sensational goal line stands, hard charging and bruising line play, savage tackling, perfect play execution, individual and team brilliance all this was the action as these clubs battled out their hearts. Four times was Jack "Straight Line" Haberline called into action, (See HUSKER3, Page 3 the Husker 40 and the Nebraska fans shivered with the thought of a Sooner forward being completed. Jacobs threw.

The ball whizzed toward the south goal and in the direction of the west sidelines. Wayne Blue, who exceeded his own expectations only three weeks ago at Minneapolis, charged just a short distance out of his tracks. Blue Goes Over. He hugged the ball as it settled in his arms and before you could say 'Snorter Luster," Blue was off in exactly the opposite r.g. Lincoln Central, hats off to thee! The Sunday Journal and Star names Coach Ralph Beechner's Lincoln Central team the 1941 mythical state high school football champions. Final prep ratings were compiled by this writer and Glenn Trump of The Journal, both of whom were close followers of the prep parade thruout the season. "Special Delivery" Edgar Jones carried the touchdown mail for the last time in Pitt livery Saturday, delivering two six point missives as the Panthers swamped Carnegie Tech 27 0, in the 28th renewal of the Smoky City teams' intense "back Central returned to the throne yard rivalry." Only 19,000 fans were in spa WAYNE BLUE AND VIC SCHLEICH WERE SATURDAY'S HEROES. Blue intercepted a pass tossed by Jack Jacobs in the second quarter and sped nearly 70 yards down the east side line for the touchdown. Schleich booted the extra point that eventually spelled victory. Picture at right shows Blue just as he began the runback while at left Jacobs makes the last chance dive at the Husker heels as he steps over the goal line.

Army kicked off to open the second half, and Fullback Sherry Werner of Reading, launched the scoring march by taking the ball a yard back in the end zone and coming up to his 81 yard line.
