Constable Purcell went out to arrest him yesterday, but found him in a house surrounded by men and women in arms, who threatened to s.htvt. To-day a posse of special police, In command of Chief Purcell. drove out and made a raid on the house The man Smith, and his defender, jl Frenchman, made for the bus-h. Smith was easily run down and captured and handcuffed to a stump, and It Is said he Hied to climb the tree and get over the top while the police were after the man. Gobear was subsequently surrounded, and both mer, were taken In custody for trial here in the morning.

In Gobear's house, which was raided after its Inmates had lied for tho bush, were found loaded Winchesters, shotguns and other dangerous weapons. Collingwood, July 7. Stock holders In tho Cramp tteel company, limited, or Collingwood. to-day received a circular letter outlining a scheme for reorganization under the name of the Northern Iron Steel limited. Should the plan meet with favorable reception It Is' the hope of those behind it that the company's plant at Collingwood will be reopened in a few weeks. Realizing the Impossibility of avoiding the foreclosure of the mortgage on the plant held by the North American Trust company, of New York, these gentlemen have taken the above action, sufficient proxies having been secured to Insure the cooperation of a majority of the stock holders.
