hits in his career Martin was thought to have set the record this season when he notched his 115th hit to pass Calvin Brown of North Edgecombe and Le Grande Russell of Hallsboro But a search of old scorebooks turned up 129 hits by Western Alamance's William Beckham from 1983 to 1986 Martin's hitting is no fluke Morehead coach Pete Cunningham said "He has hit the ball well since the first time
