George Davis of this city President of the UUgO Guilford Battle Ground Company, has very recently come into the po3- i session of quite an interesting ana valuable relic from the old Guilford Battle Ground. It is a silver knee buckle, stamped with the English Coat of Arras, and bearing the letter engraved upon it- In 1856, when the great Whig mass meeting was held upon the grounds, tome one found the buckle while clearing off the woods. It was found on the north side of the New Garden road, along the way which Lieut. Col Webster led his charge against the Continental line, and it may be rea sonably presumed that this costly buckle was part of his dress that day.

As Col. Webster was killed by a shot received in his leg, a little stretch of fancy might imagine that the buckle was torn from his pants by the fatal shot The buckle was oivpn in the Hon. George Davis, of Wilmington, late Attorney-General nf tli fYn federate States, who was one of the Whig orators at the cele bration, and by him to the Guilford Battle Ground Company.
