Sellers points out tbat, as tbe hardwood forests ol 1 the Eastern States are rapidly being exhausted, and tbe luod decuded.it, is essential that some substitute be found for those ma- considered necessary in tbe construction of furniture, vehicles and other manufactured articles, into tne make-up of whiob much of the hardwood harvest of tbis country now goes annually. Tbe report ehosvs tbat the increased demand for hardwood, and tbe prospect of a complete stoppage of the supply in the not very distant future, must result in an increase in the cost price wbicb will noon put it beyond toe reach of manufacturers for ordinary utilitarian purposes.
