3 LSU Blasts Tulane, 36-7 The Associated Press BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) Wide receiver Andy Hamilton, who earned national lineman honors last week, dazzled a home crowd for the last time Saturday night with a pass-catching show that triggered Louisiana State to a 36-7 season ending football victory over traditional rival Tulane. The 6-3, 190-pound senior from Ruston, La. grabbed six passes for 161 yards two of them for touchdowns as the Gobblers Glide By VMI, 34-0 Va. (AP) Virginia Tech's Gobblers wound up a 4-7 football season here Saturday by whipping the hapless Virginia Military Institute Keydets 34-0. Tech, with head coach Charlie Coffey in his first year at the controls, stopped VMI on numerous drives, one that penetrated all the way to the Tech 13. The loss gave VMI a 1-10 season under new coach Bob Thalman. Tech's Don Strock accounted for two of the Gobblers' TD's, throwing a 13-yard scoring pass to Mike Burnop in the second quarter and another 4-yarder to Vince Russo later in that period. J.

B. Barber and Russo ran for Tech's other two first half touchdowns and a 27-0 halftime lead. The two squads traded licks scorelessly until the fourth quarter when reserve quarterback Bob German moved Tech from its own 49 to score in four plays. German scored rolling to the right on a 29-yard bootleg. The Keydets got their deep penetration just before halftime moving from their own to the Tech 13 on four plays.

The key to that drive was 64-yard pass. from Vern Beitzel to Ken Terry, but time expired before the Keydets could score. Keydets did hold the Gobblers short of the end zone early in the first half and again late in the action. That first time, the Gobblers rolled steadily to a first down at the VMI 5 and three more plays pushed the ball down to the 1-foot line. On fourth down, Strock tried the middle of the line himself but did not make it.

With time waning in the final period, German engineered Tech to the VMI 2 but the Gobblers were pushed back to the 14 on a penalty and some aroused Keydet defense. Strock returned to the game when German was injured, but he was caught for a loss as the game ended. Tulane's Ricky Hebert scooted 63 yards to the Tiger 11 in the final seconds of the third period and Tulane got on the board two plays later on Hebert's yard run. Lee Gibson added the conversion. Hamilton's 35-yard grab from Jones hung up the game's final score. Hamilton was named the nation's co-lineman of the week with LSU's Ronnie Estay last week. His performance Saturgave him a career total receptions for 1,995 night, yards and 24 touchdowns.

(AP) Junior Huff, first staggered by a pair of interceptions, snapped back to pass for three touchdowns 261 yards to lead Fiesta Bowlbound Florida State in whipping Pittsburgh 31-13 Saturday night. The Seminoles ended their regular season 8-3 with a Dec. 27 date in the first Fiesta Bowl against Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. The Vols completed their scoring seconds later when Vandy quarterback Steve Lainhart was tackled in the end zone on a pass attempt. Tennessee is now 8-2 and closes its season next Saturday against sixth-ranked Penn State. This is the seventh consecutive year the Vols have won eight or more games.
