C. State hosts the second annual Holiday Swimming Festival, beginning Thursday at the Wolfpack Natatorium. State, the defending champion, is favored to win the three-day swimfest.

Challenges come from East Carolina, Wake Forest, South Carolina, and UNCAsheville. The Wolfpack amassed 1,130 points last year to outdistance runner-up South Carolina. Threats for the Wolfpack include senior Tom Evans and Rusty Lurwick, a couple of all-Americas last season, and freshman Richard Hermes. East Carolina has outstanding performers in sprinters Jim Norris and Bob Trevison, while the Gamecocks will have top threats in sophomores Bill Newman and Jim Keslering.
