The town has an elevation of 360 feet, the highest in the government survey between the Rio Grande and the coast of Maine.

The site is a high rolling plateau in the heart of the long leaf yellow pine forest of south Alabama. The soil is sandy; there is no malarie; there are no potson ous insects. The climate is simply de lightfal--at all times of the year. The salt air of the gulf commingles with the fragrant, delicious ozone of the pine woods; it absolutely clean and clear, and therefore of great benefit to all suffering from catarrh, bron persons chial and throat troubles and from the depressing effects of the grippe. Medical authorities are agreed that Citron elle is an ideal place for those who wish to recuperate from nervons prostration and kindred ailments, The town is within a short distance from Mobile.

it has a population of one thonsand, which is, of course, con siderably increased during the winter months. There are public and private schools, churches of various denominations, stores of all descriptions, a well and strictly up to date hotel, equipped and first class liveries. Reliable old citizens report that on May 5th, 1865, General Taylor signed negotia tions for peace to General Canby, at a under a clamp of oak trees, a mile spot and a quarter south of the depot The water of Citronelle is famous for its carattve qualities in cases of kidney and troubles. it is preferred by many to any of the well kaown leading mineral waters.

Hotel accom nodations are ample and obtainable at very reasonable rates. It is no exaggeration to say that no where along the Gulf or Atlantic Coast is there any more attrictive health resort than Citronelle. The location cannot be excelled, and the climate is considered, by various thorities, to be more beneficial than that of any other resort on the, coast. It is said that many business and protessional men have already located there, principally for reasons of health.
