Two-Thirds Of Cuban Justices Are In Hiding By MATTHEW T. KENNY United Press International HAVANA (UPI) Two thirds of the members of Premier Fidel; Castro's hand-picked Supreme Court were in hiding today, tryling to avoid the necessity of branding two refugee fellow jus as "traitors." Only 10 of the court's 30 members had signed a governmentsponsored "joint declaration" denouncing Chief Justice Emilio Menendez and Associate Justice Jose Morell Romero, who sought asylum in embassies here Tuesday. The 20 others could not be located immediately, although there was no indication any of them had sought to leave the country. Court insiders predicted at least half of the "judicial fugitives" would eventually sign the declaration. Anyone who refused flatly to do so could expect not only to be dismissed from the court but to be barred from the legal profession and denounced as a "traitor" himself.

"It was impossible to dispense justice when the court was told what sentences it must impose on the accused and judges and magistrates were constantly harassed," Menendez said in the letter he submitted to President Osvaldo Dorticos. Morell said he had "frequently' been subjected to pressure and finally to "open coercion" to influence his decisions. ZENITH QUALITY Hearing Aids Models from $50.00 Van Bebber Jwirs.
