Yarborough Paces Tigers Over Furman CLEMSON, S. Jan. 16 (A) Bill Yarborough bowed out Clemson basketball here tonight of as he led the Tigers to an 80-77 overtime victory over Furman University before 4,500. The senior guard participated in his 85th game tallied 32 points, including all four Clemson made in the extra period. Yarborough, effective tonight, has used up his eligibility under Atlantic Coast Conference regulations.

Sandy Saddler Stripped Of Featherweight Crown MILWAUKEE, Jan.

16 (P) -The National Boxing Assn. today for the second time in 25 months stripped featherweight champion Sandy Saddler of his crown for failing to sign for a title defense, but said would "reconsider" after he undergoes a physical ex- Fred Saddy, chairman of the NBA's rating committee who announced the action against Saddler said the NBA would "bide its time until it learns the outcome of the New York examination." Shortly after the NBA declared Saddler's title vacant, the New York State Athletic Commission said it had ordered Saddler's manager, Charley Johnston, to bring in for a physical examination to determine whether he is fit to fight. The commission asked Johnston and Saddler to appear Friday or the week after. Saddler, now 33 by his own admission the record book lists him as 30, was jured in an auto accident last July and hasn't fought since. He last defended his 126-pound title on Jan.

16 The baseball Dixie Classic, spring sports feature in this area, will not be held this year but will be revived in 1958, chairman Walter Rabb, Carolina baseball coach, announced today. "We regret that we will be unable to put it on this year on count of the lateness of the Easter holidays and the difficulty in securing outside teams," Rabb said. "'We definitely will hold it in 1958 and already have received inquiries from several outside teams, including Michigan, Colgate, Lafayette and Connecticut." The Big Four teams fill out the tournament. The baseball Dixie Classic was held the first time two years ago at Durham but last season first round games were played on the Big Four campuses. Rabb said committeemen are giving some consideration to holdthe 1958 event at WinstonSalem, new home of Wake Forest College.

Boston Suspends Star Goalkeeper BOSTON, Jan. 16 (P) Terry starry and sometimes temperamental goal tender for the Boston Bruins was suspended today, less than 24 hours after he club officials he was quitting hockey and disappeared. The suspension will last until lifted by the Boston National Hockey League club and that could mean life if the 27-year-old Sawchuk fails to make his peace with management. Sawchuk was missing. Neither his team mates, club officials nor could find him.

Carolina PGA Unit Sets Lexington Meet LEXINGTON, Jan. 16 (P) The Executive Committee of the Carolinas PGA section will meet here tomorrow to go over plans for the 1957 season. The meeting, at which most of the leading tournament dates and sites will be announced, will begin at 10 a. m. and will be held at the Lexington Country Club, home base for Dugan Aycock, president of the group.

P. J. Boatwright, executive sec-' TALLAHASSEE, Jan. 16 (Head football coach Tom Nugent yesterday announced he has signed a new contract and will remain at Florida State University. Nugent, who has been drawing $9,500 a year, said he has been instructed not to reveal terms of his new contract.

He made his announcement in a telephone call from the office of Florida State president Doak S. Campbell. He had been recommended for a raise to $10,300. "I have just signed a contract and I am very happy to remain at Florida State University," Nugent said. He said the contract and involves "substantial raise" has made him "completely happy." Nugent said he has withdrawn as a candidate for coaching positions at the University of Houston and the University of Indiana.
