Four leagues with 28 teams are sponsored by local merchants and organized by the Carroll Jaycees. Four teams in the T-Ball League are designed to teach 8-year-olds the fundamentals of baseball, Beeson said. Each boy on a team swings at a baseball mounted on a rubber hose in an inning. After runs are tallied, the six infielders and rest of the players in the outfield come to bat. Purpose of T-Ball is to give all boys the chance to participate and learn about the game, the commissioner said. The Minor League is composed of 10 teams of boys aged 9, 10, 11, and 12. Rules are the same as those used in the Major League except that everyone can bat. More advanced 10-12-year-olds make up the Major League. Last year's team won second place in the state tournament. The Senior League has six teams of boys aged 13-15. Rules and regulations are similar to those of high school baseball. Beeson predicted that the All-Star team could be one of the best Carroll has ever had. Reese Abbe was the program chairman for the Kiwanis meeting and Harold Frey presided. The absence of boards of directors of outside thinkers whose function is to inject bridges of understanding with outside groups is one of the most common reasons that many organizations find the human climate stormy. So says Philip Lesly in his book, "The People Factor: Managing the Human Climate." SPECIAL THIS week only. Your portable typewriter power cleaned & adjusted for $6.25 — ribbon included.
