The engagement is rated as toss-up, with Clemson's game and kicking matched against State's aerial attack and trickery.

The contest is the 19th in the series between the Carolina schools. Coach Doc Newton of State believes the game will be an offensive battle and he "wouldn't be surprised if each team scored several touchdowns." He said that he didn't know how well his young players would be able to solve Clemson's tricky plays, but he added that State also has a few tricks which he hoped would work. entire State squad leaves Raleigh tomorrow morning for the game, with 43 making the trip. The Tigers dropped a 13-12 decision to Presbyterian, but the showing in that game was pleasing to Coach Frank Howard who commented that his players showed a lot more talent and experience than he expected. Newton said that Bob Madak probably would start at end in the place of Grafton Pearce, but otherwise his starting eleven would be the same that got the call against Naval Apprentice. The National League batting king and leader of the Cards' hit parade next week's World Series suffered the injury while running out a grounder in the fourth inning. Debs Garms replaced him in the next frame, but Manager Billy Southworth said the injury to his right ankle was not serious and that he was taken out "for a rest." For four frames he was hooked up in a tight duel with Rube Fischer, but the Cards clouted the Giants righthander for a pair of tallies in the fifth and went on a five-run spree in the sixth, and before the shooting was over they had collected a total of 11 hits. The box: New York AD. R. H. O.
