critical illness of several weeks Mrs Mary Louise Wilkerson 21 died Thursday night at her home at 710 North Bonner Street Mrs Wilkerson was the daughter of Sanford Sr and Dorcas Ballance Sanford of this city She was born in Hertford April 20 1920 and had lived in Washington for several years She was a member of the First Baptist Church and she had made a wide circle of friends Surviving are her husband Golden Wilkerson a four-year-old son Golden Jr her parents Mr and Mrs Sanford four brothers Sanford Jr of Washington Sanford of Baltimore Edward Sanford stationed at Fort Myers Va and Charles Sanford of Norfolk and two sisters Mrs Dan Williams of Hertford and Mrs Crummy of Edenton Funeral services will be held from the Paul Funeral Home tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock conducted by the Rev Gilbert Goodman pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church Interment was made in the family plot in the New Gilead cemetery Daughter of the late David and Christine Nussman Mrs Neisler was born March 21 1857 in Concord at the site that is now on the public square She was married in 11387 to Adolphus Neisler who died 10 years ago She had resided most of her life in Cabarrus County and was a member of Cold Water Lutheran Church Mrs Neisler is survived by one son Fred Neisler three daughters Mrs Long and Misses Mary and Nell Neisler six granddaughters two great-granddaughters and one great great-grandson One brother Bostian of Cabarrus County also survives MRS WOOTEN Sanford--Mrs Georgia Culberson Wooten 57 wife of Wooten of Cameron and a popular resident there died in Highsmith Hospital Fayetteville shortly after 11 a Friday after a critical illness following a stroke of paralysis which she suffered a week ago The daughter of the late George and Anna Culherson of Cameron Mrs Wooten spent the greater part of her life in Cameron and vaas much beloved in the community Surviving are her husband four daughters Mrs York Raleigh Mrs Paul Joyner Mrs Martin McFayden and Mrs Edgar Bruner all of here have learned of the sudden death in Richmond Va Wednesday of Henry Shirley 65 one-time member of old Horner School faculty here and whose first wife was the former Miss Alice Graham of Oxford Mr Shirley was chairman of the Virginia State Highwey Commission at the time of his death a position he had held for several years He formerly was chief engineer for the State of Maryland and during the World War was a member of the National Defense Bocrd In 1898 to 1900 Mr Shirley was commandant of the cadet corps at Horner School here Surviving are his wife and five children by his first wife daughter of the late Judge and Mrs A Graham Sr who preceded her husband in death in 1918 Funeral rites were held in St James Episcopal Church in Richmond Thursdzy afternoon MRS JOSEPH KINSEY Mrs Joseph Kinsey whose funeral was held at LaGrange this afternoon was the widow of a veteran educator who headed the Lenoir County schools for years When Professor Kinsey became too old to serve the county the board of education made him superintendent emeritus and pensioned him He was probably the first superintendent emeritus of public schools in the country Mrs Kinsey died Wednesday at the home of a son-in-law the Rev Dr Melton in St Petersburg Fla The minister is a widely known minister of the Disciples of Christ Survivors are Mrs Melton another MRS LYDIA CLENDENIN Burlington--Final rites for Mrs Lydia Staley Clendenin whose death occurred early Tuesday morning at her home in Elon were conducted from the home Thursday afternoon by Dr Smith president of lElon College and Christian minister Mrs Bowden rendered two solos during the service Mrs Clendenin native ot Alamance County and for many years a beloved and respected citizen of the Elon College community had been critically Springs DR A PITMAN A Putman 70 pastor of Inwood BEptist Church of Wake County died at the State Baptist Hospital Thursday night after tn illness of several weeks Dr Putman was supply pastor at Inwood Church for nine years during which time he was Bible teacher at Shaw University He was pastor of the Quidnick I Baptist Church for 23 years before going to Raleigh The minister left Raleigh to return to his home in West Sutton Mass to return later as full time pastor of the Wake Church Funeral services will be held at Inwood Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock Interment will be in the church cemetery Surviving Dr- Putman are his widow the former Miss Flossie Lewis and one sister Mrs Effie Burhoe of Westboro Mass STALEY Staley who until recently had resided near Stem in Granville County died at the home of his daughter Mrs Owen at Norlina at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon He had been ill a short time Funeral rites were held Friday afternoon at Star Montgomery County and interment was in the famar at East Maiden Baptist Church for George Oscar Stallings 46 manager of a Maiden textile mill who died suddenly Wednesday night before he could be admitted to the Newton Hospital Williams Baptist minister officiated at the funeral and burial rites Mr Stallings who had been foreman at the Maiden mill for 15 years worked all day Wednesday becoming suddenly ill during the night He was a son of
