clad gathered at the address given and waited to receive their jobs As the morning wore and no employer appeared the men built fires from brush and gathered around to curse the weather and denounce the labor conditions Neighbors in the section became alarmed and called police Officers found no violence but a huge crowd of sullen disappointed men Gradually the throng dwindled and some went home
