then but little has been done. We are now pleased to understand that a few of our citizeus are ready to take hold of tho subject in A meeting of the County Agricultural Society will be held at the Court House nest Saturday afternoon. At tins meeting a delegate will be chosen to visit the Capital, when the location of the next State Fair is to be settled. Ws hope some one will be sent on who can properly and fully represent our interests. But whoever goes must be backed by a good subscription.

We can Tery easily secure the next State Fair if we but exhibit the proper liberality. Whether this liberality will be exhibited or not, depends much upon the person we select Licit Saturday to visit Des MOID as. This egate should be a person to head the list from his owu pocket in good figures, and with the influence to induce others to follow. Vfeftave such men among us. But we urge upon our fellow-citizens -that immediate steps be token to secure the next State Fair at this place.

All it requires is a littie liberality and enterprise. RAILROAD ACCIDEST--Two lavsa before last, the passenger train west started at the usual hour, but met with a serious accident at Buck Creek bridge, three miles from tbts city. The accident was not occasioned through any deficiency in the bridge, as was currently reported yesterday, but from a large piece of timber having been placed ou the bridge, with the evident design of throwing off the train. The front wheels of the locomotive struck it. the timber slid a short distance, when it rolled and the wheels were thrown on the ties.

The bridge at once" gave way enough to throw the locomotive'into the creek, which at this place is very deep. The engine was buried in the water, so that scarcely any part of it was risible.
