MRS. DESKINS WELLS. Editor Dick Wiles Hostess At Shower For Gleon On Wednesday, January 13, Mrs. Dick Wiles and Miss Roberta Crosby were hostesses at the Wiles home honoring Mrs. Gene Glenn, recent bride.

Mrs. Glenn was, before her 'marriage, Miss Tommie Ixm Whitson. A color note of yellow and white was used in the decorative theme. Yellow chrysanthemums were used in the entertaining rooms. The color scheme was further carried out in the salad course.

The wedding gifts were presented to the bride in a large box covered in the chosen color scheme. Tfte guests spent a pleasant evening inspecting the gifts. The guest list included: Mrs. A. Whitson, Mrs.

Roy Shumate, to Aubert Keller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Keller, took place Sunday morning at 9:30 o'clock, January 17. The bride is a member of the younger set of the Cross Roads Community where she has many friends. She was a member of the senior class and planned to finish her high school course this year.

Before moving to Cross Roads the bride resided in Holla for nine years. The groom has resided in the Cross Roads Community for many years where he takes an active part in community organizations. He is president of the Sunday evening singers of the Cross Roads church, and also active in Sunday School work. The couple plan to make their home in Cross Roads. Hall-Koen Marriage Solemnized In New Mexico December 27 A marrjagc of interest was that of Miss I)ona Mae Koen, daughter of Mi', and Mrs.

E. D. Koen of Wellington, to Clifton Leo Hall, son of Mrj and Mrs. W. E.

Hall of Wellingtori. The wedding was solemnized in Lovington, New Mexico, by Hughes, pastor of the Baptist Church Sunday, December 27. The bride graduated from Wellington High School in the class of 1935. After graduation she attended beauty school at Arlene's Beauty School in Lubbock. After finishing school she was employed at Mrs.

Dyson's Beauty Shop and Vianne Dt Vaunn Beauty Shop in Wellington. At the time of her marriage she was manager of the DeLuxe Beauty Shop in Eunice, New Mexico. The groom, attended school in Wellington graduating in the class of 1934. Since that time he has been associated with his father at the W. E.

Hall Service Station. Both bride and groom are well known in Wellington where they will make their home. December Bride Mrs. Clifton Leo Hall, who was before her marriage, Miss Dorm Mac Kocn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

E. D. Koen. The marriage look place in New Mexico December 27. Johnnie Richatdson Weds Onia Harvey January 12 Miss Onia Harvey, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. 0, Harvey of the Swearingen became the bride of Mr. Johnnie Richardson of Swearingen on Tuesday, January 12. The ceremony was read by P. W.

Myers at the Myers home at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. The only attendants were Bertha Nell Harvey and Clifford Richardson. The bride was a member of the younger-set of the Swearingen Community and attended school there. She was attired in a navy blue sport suit with matching accessories. The groom is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. J. A. Richardson of Swearingen. The couple will make their home in that community where Mr.

Richardson will be engaged in farming. Misses IJucile Bennett and Margaret Shields were visitors in Amarillo during the week end. Meets In Regular Session Thursday The Kelley Women's Missionary Society met in regular session last Thursday afternoon in the J. E. Reynolds home. The session was opened by the group singing "Have Thine Own Way, Lord," led by Mrs. W.

F. Vaughan conducted the devotional after which Mrs. Harklcroad, Mrs. Bob Hightower and Mrs. G.

R. Lewis gave interesting talks from, the "World Outlook." Pledges were made by the members for the year 1937 following the program. Mrs. W. S.

Local Students At Canyon Have Active Meetings And Programs This Term Mrs. Stevenson Gives Book Review At Study Club Members of the Domestic Science Club were present Wednesday afternoon to hear Mrs. B. Stevenson review "The Way of a Transgressor," by Negley Farson. The story was of the varied and unusually interesting events in the author's life.

Negley Far- a reporter, recounts these events in a most entertaining manner. Mrs. E. N. Lewis was hostess for the; occasion Jaunary 13.

met in regular session on Monday, January 11. There was much entertainment and amusement afforded by extemporaneous speeches given by various students of the club. Miss Mamie Ruth Clark issued the subjects, and among them were such topics as: "How I Make Hash," "If I Were As Strong As Pop Eye," "It's Fun to Gossip," "My Pet Fault," and "A Day on the Farm." Talks were made by Henry Young, Mamie Ruth Clark, Johnnye IJce Barton, Nina C. Clement, Olie Brown, Jesse Coleman, E. L.

Hammitt, Mary Lee Davis and Leon Williams. The next meeting of the club will be held next Monday, January 25, at which time new officers will be elected to lead the club next semester. Jesse Coleman, president of the club, will receive his B. S. degree at the close of this term and some one will be selected to replace him.

The club has prospered under his guidance and has been able to gain recognition among the other college organizations. Publicity Chairman. Missionary Society Gives Cleo Templeton Party Mrs. Cleo Templeton was complimented by the ladies of the Methodist Missionary Society with a handkerchief shower at the home of Mrs. E.

H. Small Thursday evening. The group surprised Mrs. Templeton with the party and presented her with a cook book upon their arrival. When Mrs.

Templeton opened the book she found the handkerchiefs which were pinned together and all came out in one long string. Refreshments were served to about twenty guests. They were: Mesdames Joe Hardy, Frank Anderson, L. E. Gribble, M.

A. To Organize Mothers Singers Club Thursday At a recent meeting of the East Ward Parent-Teacher Association the mothers discussed the need for more pep in the organization, and decided to combine the P. T. A. members of the three units for the purpose of organizing a Mothers Singers Club.
