The dramatist's monologue was interspersed with music, of which many selections were Stephen Foster's works. Misses Jane Williams and Harolyn MacEl-wee. both students at Shamokin High School, served as soloist and pianist, respectively. The guest speaker is a lecturer, writer, philosopher and dramatist. She was recently appointed to the governor's Educational Television Committee and made director of women's activities for Republicans in Philadelphia.

Club members met in St. John Reformed chapel with Mrs. William I. Troutman, president, in charge of the business meeting. Miss Grace Buffington led the devotions.

Cor-responaence was read by Mrs. James Davis, secretary. mokin. and the husband of Richard Hummel, a teacher in the Selins-grove public Mrs. Hummel, who inherited her talent rrom four great-aunts who were milliners.

Mrs. Troutman announced that the county's project is supplying rocking chairs for patients at the Northumberland County Home. She asked the support of the club in this work and said that Miss Jennie Steinmetz, welfare chairman, will handle local aid.

A contribution of $10 was made to the current Cancer Fund drive. Mrs. Troutman said a prize of $10 will be awarded to students of the senior Prospective Bride Miss Blanche Riffel. daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Orval Riffel, Tharp-town. was honored during a surprise bridal shower held in the home of the bride-to-be. Miss Riffel will become the bride of Thomas Dushon. son of the late Mr. and Mrs.

Michael Dushon, in the near future. Hostess for the shower was Mrs. H. L. Rockfeller, Sunbury.

The prospective bridegroom w-as graduated frcm Ralpho Township High School and Upsala College.

He is a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. Kern is presently attending Lehigh University, where he is studying for a masters degree. He holds "a half time assistantship in psychology. He is a veteran of World War II. The couple plan to be married in June.

Mrs. Jane Beadle. Northumberland County captain of American Cancer Society, made an appeal to members in behalf of the society's current drive. She cited the work accomplished by the county unit, which has supplied medicines, dressings, transportation and sick room supplies, including hospital beds to cancer patients throughout Northumberland County, as well as support of the diagnostic clinics. She asked members to be generous either with funds or personal aid.
