6 THE KANSAS CITY STAR, SUNDAY, MAY 2, 1965 Garrison Leads Lloyds In Fourth 3 and 2 Season TIGERS HOLD ON TO TRIP BOSTON Freehan Doubles In Winning Run in 9th in 9-8 Thriller Frank Waters, the other new entry, has 17 players available now on a 25-man squad. Players who will be available later are John Kindred, first baseman; Frank Welter, shortstop; George Miller, third base-man; Tom Petty, third base-man; Ron Nick, catcher; Jerry Carson and Dick Sappington, pitchers. Other members of the team are Paul Mason, first base; Jim Dunston and Bill Millsap, second base; John Walker, shortstop; Bill Thomas, third base; Terry Reed, Ken Shaw, Wayne OBryan, Rene Meje, Jim Kendall, outfielders; Bob Howard, Larry Ray, Mike DeBain, Larry Doyle, catchers; Jim Palmer, Bob Millsap, Daryl Kent and Ron Toomey, pitchers. Lloyds, starting its fourth year in the Senior 3 and 2 league, together with Holland Construction and Frank Waters, the two new members of the 6-team loop, has been holding workouts in preparation for the opening of the season Sunday, May 9. Dean Garrison, starting his fourth season as manager of Lloyds, has eight veterans on a 16-man squad.

His big problem at the present is mustering enough players to start the season. The veterans are Jim Zuger, second baseman; Pat Crilly, third baseman; Mike Shaw, shortstop; John Fergus, second baseman; Larry Hackathorn, outfielder; Gary Bobski, outfielder; Mike Miller and Rudy Florez, pitchers. Zuger, Crilly, Bobski and Shaw are at school or college and will be available later. Gary Folsom and Harold Farris, outstanding pitchers last year in the Kansas City, Kansas, 3 and 2 league, are members of the 6-man hurling staff. Jack Marshall, manager of Holland Construction, has a young team, with all except three players on a 19-man squad from last years Junior A entry in the Johnson County 3 and 2 league.

The majority of the players have been together for a number of years. Rus Meyers, catcher; Randy Marshall, shortstop; Larry Largent, third baseman; Steve Bass, catcher and Terry Tackett, first baseman, have been with Jack Marshall the nine years that he has been managing 3 and 2 league teams. Stu Steele drilled one over the I left-field fence for Kansas State. Orville Hollrah won his fourth straight mound victory, although relieved by Jack Stroud in the sixth.
