Lincoln Sunday ournal and Star June 19, 1966 3G Patric Is The Name, Thank You Big Fairgrounds Races Drawing Top Nominations Two of the richest races on the 1966 Fairgrounds schedule appeared certain to be run in two divisions each according to racing secretary Jack Fickler. As the nominations came to a close last week, Fickler reported 50 thoroughbreds on the list for a Nebraska bred juvenile two vear old contest Ak Sar Ben 4 Race To Dunham Omaha Dunham, with Eddie Burns up, captured the Ak Sar Ben 4 Handicap over Casing Tools at Ak Sar Ben Saturday. Dunham covered the mile and 70 yards in 1:421 5 and paid $10.60, $4.20, and $3.00. Clifford Thompson picked up three wins and a place during the course of the afternoon, winning on Kay Aye in the second. Big Papa in the fourth, and She's A Goer in the fifth.

Kay Aye coupled with Good Or Jack in the first race pushed the daily double to $226.60. Saturday's Results slated for running Wednesday, Aug. 3 over Hi furlongs for a $3.000 added purse. Similar Event A similar event for three year olds drew 42 nominations. This affair will be staged Wednesday, July 27 and con tested over a distance of one mile with a $3.000 added purse also.

It's Patric (pronounced Patrick). Not Patrice or Patricia. And don't call her Pat "I don't know what my mother had in mind when she named me," Mrs Mills said, "but that's It" Swimming runs in the Mills family. Her husband, Estel Mills, is diving coach at the University of Nebraska and an all America diver at lowa. "Swimming is more of an avocation with me than a Mrs Mills admits.

"During the school year I'm a graduate assistant in French at the I'ni ficatK en ob client. to natr oi Mrs Mills studied a vear in Paris. All Lincoln Swim team preparations are aimed at June 25. That's the date of the first meet of the season the Junior Olympics In Omaha. We'll take about 40 swimmers." Mrs.

Mills noted. "The oldest will be 17 and the youngest will be eight or nine." So far Mrs. Mills is extremely pleased with the enthusiasm of her swimmers. About 90 were on hand for tryouts early Thursday morning at Woods Park pool. "The temperature was only 55 degrees Thursday morning," she explained, "and they were all out there in the pool.

If they can get up at 7 a.m. and freeze to death, they're a great bunch. It was too cold for me to get in." The team will compete in 10 meets this summer the last one coming in August. They'll take September off ana Degin preparation tor winter meets in October. The schedule will run through April with May an off month.

The cycle will start all over again next June. A swimmer's dream is the annual AAU swim meet.
