W. Brooks, better known as "Wash" Brooks will not go to Florida this year. He has opened a new grocery store on Sixth avenue, opposite Park Hill where he will be pleased to see his many friends. Mr. Brooks has other plans in connection with this store which will be announced later.

Dr. J. F. Brooks, the well known druggist and pharmacist, who has had charge of the prescription department almost since the organization of the Rose Pharmacy, has tendered his resignation to Dr. Rose.

When Dr. Brooks' resignation is accepted he will take a much needed rest. He will, of course, continue to live in Hendersonville. Mrs. James Stepp has returned from Travelers Rest, S.

Breeding have gone to their new home in Kentucky. Mrs. T. A. Allen who has been in an extremely feeble condition for some time past, shows no signs of improvement, her friends will regret to learn.

William D. Bradsher, of Oxford, is the competent prescription clerk of Hunter's Pharmacy. Mr. Bradsher is a genial gentleman and welcome to Hendersonville. We are requested to announce that an old-time singing will take place the fourth Sunday in this month, October 27, at the new Methodist Church at Dana near the old camp ground.

T. J. Shipman will lead the singing. A cordial invitation is extended to all who are interested to attend and, bring lunch baskets. The exercises Will begin at 10 a.

Pace is now in business at the depot where he has opened a modern grocery store. Sherman Frisbee have a meat market in the rear of the building the two making a happy combination. Mr. G. H. Browning is preparing a birdseye view map of this city which promises to be a most valuable advertising medium. The map will show every public and private building in the city.

Surrounding the picture will be concise information about the town It will be printed in folder form and may be mailed for one cent. There should be, and undoubtedly will be, tens of thousands of the folder mailed out of when they are ready. Mr. Browning is also preparing a similar map of Laurel Park which shows in detail all the drives and walks in "the most beautiful nat-ral parks in America." Mr. Earl Stillwell has returned from Europe and will remain in Hendersonville until the completion of the power house for the Laurel Park Street Railway.

Mr. Stillwell will have charge of this work. The power house, designed to furnish power for the new trolley line to Laurel Park, will be lo-'cated at the Transylvania Railroad crossing. Construction work on the building and on the line itself will begin at an early date. Among Hendersonville's summer population this year were more than fifty people from Jacksonville, Fla.

And there will be still more next year. H. C. Meyer has gone to Knox-ville on a business trip. Jas.

A. Hatch hasT returned from a very pleasant trip to New York. John an old and respected citizen of Mills River township, died this morning after an illness of several weeks. A more extended notice will appear in Monday's paper. Mr.
