THE SUN Jvu, Nov. 21, 1913 Knox has come up with such a potent rushing attack? Right, Ground Chuck. No caveman he Michigan coach Bo Schembechler, on facing a wishbone team, Auburn, in the Sugar Bowl: "If I ran the wishbone here, you guys (reporters) would say I was a Neanderthal. You guys think it's nifty to pass the football and now we've become a pass-oriented conference. But the wishbone is one heck of an offense and a beauty to watch." We're talking depressed Rams guard Dennis Harrah, asked how he felt after a lopsided 42-20 loss to Washington on a rainy day at Anaheim Stadium: "There wasn't a mud puddle out there quite deep enough to drown myself in, but that's the way I feel." Kansas was detected tripping again and penalized 15 yards more.

Now facing a 55-yard attempt into the wind, Kallmeyer came up short, ending his streak. Let's be serious Chicago Bears running back Walter Pavton, who along with Franco Harris is closing in Jim Brown's National Football League career rushing record, when asked whether he thought Brown would actually make a comeback: "I'm 29 and he's 47. So what are the Seattle Seahawks known as, now that coach Chuck kaleicioscop End of his streak was something to kick about Kansas placekicker Bruce Kallmeyer was working on a streak of 53 consecutive points-after-touchdown earlier this season when the Jayhawks scored a touchdown against Big Eight rival Colorado. At first Kansas wanted to go for a two-point cc nversion, but the Jayhawks were offside, the ball was moved back 5 yards and Kallmeyer was called into the game for the one-pointer.

Kallmeyer promptly booted the 25-yard extra fit I Dennis Harrah Walter Payton point, but Kansas was flagged for tripping and the ball was moved back another 15 yards. Kallmeyer then kicked a 40-yard extra point, but -2- 4 "''0. The Sun's 1983 Beat the Experts contest concluded last weekend with Edward Dawson of Riverside winning the final $100 prize. Dawson, of 991 Blaine Apt. 80, missed only three of 20 games to nose out Philip Nolan of Rialto, who accurately picked the winner of 16 games. Dawson missed on the Pitt-Penn State tie, and failed to tab Wyoming and Apple Valley as winners. Dawson couldn't be reached by telephone Monday, so his check will be mailed to him.

There were 1,874 entries. Gil Hulse finished as the leading Sun expert, easily outdistancing runnerup Jim Long. Hulse went 14-5-1 the final week to wind up the season with a fine 138-77-5 record, a winning percentage of nearly 65 percent. Hulse also led The Sun experts with 16 on-the-nose selections, four ahead of Vic West. Paul Oberjuerge had 11.

West finished third in the overall standings, eight games back of Hulse. Rounding out the final standings, Claude Anderson was fourth, 10 games back; Mike Davis fifth (12); Oberjuerge sixth (13); Gregg Patton seventh (18); and Katie Castator eighth (27). 5 2 0 180 101 5 2 0 163 75 4 3 0 133 63 3 4 0 105 155 2 5 0 170 19 2 5 0 80 153 1 0 50 22 8 2 0 26 111 1 3 0 210 104 7 4 0 20 134 6 5 0 10 188 4 7 0 26 270 2 8 0 97 226 2 9 0 84 325 Akron Murray SI.
