It might be the lining'in the heel of a shoe. The clip holds lining and shoe together until the glue is dry. When you buy a cloth measuring tape, cover it with transparent tape to protect the printing and still have the numbers readable. This makes the tape sturdier and, of course, it wears much longer. — F. T. GIRLS — It always pays to try Ofjce mere if your hint was not published. — POLLY DEAR POLLY — Hope mine is a Pointer for a fast buck. There is no need for men who ordinarily wear nylon stretch socks to buy heavier ones for winter. Just put on a pair of old or faded ones and then a good pair on top of them. They are just as warm as wool.—ERNEST GIRLS - We will have fe ae some to b« thriftier than seme of our ingenious boy friends. — POLLY DEAR POLLY — PlasUc place mats make ideal eating mats for dogs or cats. They are large cnougli to accommo date a dish of milk, one of water and two food dishes. The mats can be bought in colors to go with your kitchen scheme, The floor stays clean and al ways looks neat if someone comes in. We believe our cats enjoy their meals more when they cat from pretty mats. These mats also make very nice gifts for your friends' pets. — ANNETTE. GIRLS-With no offense to your pets, this It a good way to use eM matt (hat do not look nice enaugh for the ta. ble. — POLLY DEAR POLLY - 1 had a letter all sealed and stamped and then found I had failed to include some snapshots. To open the sealed envelope, I pulled the sealed part back and forth over a hot, lighted electric bulb. - MRS. M. L. S. DEAR POLLY - Your "flag down the visitors" suggestion was excellent but I have a question for other mothers. \Vhat do you do when the clanging bell of the ice cream man invades the neighborhood and awakens every sleeping baby pria causes Bvery child^to clamor for a coin to buy ice cream whether or not it is lunch time, nap time, supper time or bed time? I discovered my Pointer quite by accident To store and preserve good used candlei for later use, I took a sturdy plastic bag (size depending on the length and number of candles) ^and machine-sewed pockets to fit the candles. The case is somewhat Uke those that flat silver comes in. This can be rolled, keeps the candles smooth and dean for later use and the color can be seen without open ing the bag. — MRS. R. S. GIRLS — It It eaty to un. derttand Mrt. R. S.'* annoy. ance but the (ca cream man's ball it en* of these things, like a train whistle, that we and the children have to ac ccpt. At far as hit., timing gea*, be cannot bo at every place at the right time. Jutt one of tiMto thingt that ro- quiret ut to uto a bit of diKl* plino to the children will not expect to get tuch treats ov« ery day. — POLLY DEAR POLLY — Please tell all young mothers who drive with their babies in car seats to be sure and place one book of the baby seat near the driver's half of the front seat so it can be easily reached. Recently saw a young mother driving a car with a divided front seat and both the baby seat hooks were on the right half of the seat She bad to make an emergency stop and the baby was thrown forward into the dashboard. - BUD, A CAB DBIV. ER. DEAR POLLY—My hint is for the men, women, boys and girls who like to fish. When using worms for bait put them in one of the new slim coffee cans witb a plastic lid.
