HOUSEHOLD AND GARDEN INSEaiCIDES FOR SALE! U EAST VINE. STREET PHONE PY 2-3«fl Spiders destroy many other insects Most spiders around the home garden do more good than bad by destroying other insects. There is only one spider in California that is dangerous to man; the black widow. The others may; occa sionally bite, bu^ such distress is rarely more painful than a bee sting. The control of all spiders, ifj it should rarely be necessary, is the same as for black wid- dows. To kill black widows, treat garages, basements, at tics and outbuildings with a spray of lindane or dieldrin, five percent solution. This will form a killing residue that will last for several months. If vegetation is to be treated, make certain that the spray you are using is suitable for applying to plants. Usually a wettable powder is best for use on plants. To. prevent reinfestation, tightly screen doors and windows and other openings of the house. Destroy weeds afad rubbish and cut dead grass. Clear away rocks, tin cans and other debris which may provide shelter. Redlahds Daily Fads Friday, Apr. 3, 19M - 9 <|K(| •A of drawers and desk and the bed has been given an antiqued finish. Sowbugs, pillbugs no problem Do you worry about the dozens or hundreds of sowbugs and pillbugs you commonly see crawling around' on the shady side of the house? Actually, these organisms do very little damage except to tmy seedling plants. They live on decaying vegetable matter primarily, and must have lots of moisture around them to live. In summer when the ground drys out and decaying vegetable matter becomes dry, these bugs will disappear. But if they do become bothersome, you can quickly eliminate them with any contact insecticide containing dieldrin, chloro- dane, lindane, malathion, or a combination of some of these. Spray directly on the pests and on areas they frequent. Spray plants completely When spraying insecticides on plants, it is necessary to cover every part of the plant To spray just the upper surface will do no damage at all to pests on the under side of the leaves. To be most effective, you must learn where the pest lives and ivorks, and make sure your spray reaches it there.
