Plan A plan to provide additional parking at thes Redlands Post Of fice as reported by the Traffic and Public Safety committee was approved by the Redlands Cham ber of Commerce directors last night and offered to the city council for study and action The plan which would accom modate an additional dozen or more parked cars is offered mere ly as a suggestion to the council to solve the problem which has defied solution for a number of years Traffic converging at the inter section from five directions com bined with heavy parking by post office patrons has created what the directors termed very bad The plan as prepared by the committee suggests narrowing the dividing parkway of Brookside avenue to a it a two foot barrier by cutting it on the south side from the Grant street inter section east to its end mg the end on to street intersection A bulkhead would from the south curb traffic lane on Brookside avenue to permit angle parking there from Grant to Eureka streets The bulkhead would divert the east bound two lanes of traffic into and along the cut out portion of the center lane The added park ing space is front of the post office would then take care of 12 or more cars instead of five The extended portion of the Brookside avenue barrier would curb the indiscriminate driving around the open area at the inter section in front of the Post office i This would be further stopped by the extending of the triangle area in front of the drive in east to the intersection of Eureka This projected triangle would also pro vide parking space on the north side of the west bound Brookside avenue traffic land for at least five more cars The change would require re moval of several pepper trees in the present center island and mov ing of some power poles Assisting in
