Con. Com. Cbalr'n. For Sale. The editor of the Index is compelled to quit the newspaper business on account of failing eyes.

He offers his half interest in the office for sale. If you want to go into the business, don't stop to write. Come and look. A bargain will be given. The republicans are always afraid that Ingalls is about to break out of the bull pen.

They want to brand him attain, and he bellows and Bhows his old scars. 11 umb said the democrats ought to be satistied with our currency system, as a national bank bill, issued at Rock Island, would buy whisky in Ohio or l'ennsylvania, or anywhere else. I'lunib said In his speech, at the opera house, in this city: "I believe we can have free coinage of silver without injury to the country." Some republicans, who have forgotton that, are now opposed to free coinage. of the wholesale business houses, which have ridiculed the alliance and its objects, are now crying out for the alliance people to help them fiyiit the railroads. We would Buggest to these people to yote the alliance ticket, and when we get enough congressmen of the right stripe we will have a few good, common sense laws passed that will prevent discrimination.

The Lexington, Inteifger, a straight democratic organ, says: "It lias come to the ears of the editor of the 1 utelligencer, and came pretty straight, that in one alliance in this county, lit'ty-three democrats have declared they will ii' attend the democratic primaries this spring. In another locality, an old ami influential democrat declares he will not vote the democratic national ticket unless it promises substantial monetary relief to the people. Another, who "never scratched a ticket," says he shall not tell how he will vote until the Chicago platform is made. These are only a few of the political straws that are blowing about the country is littered with such. They show that real democrats do not intend to be sold and delivered to the gold ring." And it shows that the leaven of reform and independence is at work in that section.

The Whichita Opinion contains the following: "J.N.Ives for governor, co-operation' the pass-word whispered along the line. In the Held to win. It is almost conceded that Attorney General Ives will be the co-operation candidate for governor of Kansas. He is universally acceptable to the democrats, and populists are enthusiastic over the announcement of his name. That the five people's party congressmen will be re nominated is no longer an idle conjecture.

The democrats will be given the fit st and second district nominations and probably those at large, with half the presidential electors from the etate. Lots will be cast on the state ticket and a fair division arrived at. In ttedgwick county co-operation will be first and foremost, with the county attorney conceded to the democrats, the people's party getting the district clerk. The other arrangements the tickt i have not been determined. Co-operation may not be music to the ears of peculiarly nervous individuals, but a partial ictory gained without the sacrifice of principle, is more to be desired than ignominious defeat or possible annihilation." The Kansas City Times publishes the following special telegram: l-ln Reno county last fall theie was a split in the democratic party.

The central committee called a mass convention and agreed not to put a ticket in the field A bolting faction organized and nominated a ticket which polled votes. After the election the two factions met and harmonized their difficulties and elected a new central committee. There is a disposition now to fuse with the people's party it an equitable division of the spoils can be agreed upon. Three prominent democratic lawyers are opposed to fusion and two are favorable. Of twenty other business am professional men interviewed, twelve ai favorable to fusion on everything, prov.

democrats can secure a fair divide, ir of the twelve thought the id better vote for the people party electoral ticket straight ami gavi their reason, that it v.t-u take Kansas' out of the republican milium ami contribute to the election Light men opposed ami thought democrats had better take it straight. Democrats in the country are generally In favor of fusion. At le last democratic convention a committee of five was appointed to confer with a like committee of the people's party to arrange for a fusion, and report to the two central committees." Cleveland Democraticl'lub Proceedings. At a regular weekly meeting of the Barber County Cleveland Democratic Club, held last Saturday p. the following vice-presidents were elected First commissioner district, T. L. O'Bryan, of Medicine Lodge; 2nd commissioner district, T.

P. Wilson, of Kiowa; 3rd commissioner district, D. L. Pierce. The attention ot the Club having been called to a communication over the nom-de-plume of "Justice," in the St.

Louis Republic for the current week, in which it was stated that a large majority of the democrats of the 7th congressional district favored fusion with the people's party and the re-election of Jerry Simpson to congress, evoked the following preamble and resolution, which was unanimously adopted and ordered printed, to-wit: Whereas, A correspondent for the St. Louis Republic, from West Wichita, Kansas, signing itself "Justice," misrepresents the sentiment of the democracy of Barber county, be it Resolved, By the Cleveland Tarill Reform Club, of Barber county, Kansas, that we demand that the democrats of the seventh congressional district of Kansas, place a democrat in nomination for congress this fall. Resolved, That the sentiment of the democrats of Barber county, at the present time, is opposed to fusion, in any form with any party whatsoever. Sharon Items. The late frosts did not damage the fruit crop in this vicinity. The apricot, nectarine, peach, plum and cherry trees are getting with fruit as tun as usual. The apple trees are st ill full bloom, but will no doubt be loaded with the usual quantity of luscious fruit. Our pastures now afford an abundant supplv of grass for our cattle and horses. A few days ago a boy poisoned himself severely by eating, at one time, too many hard-shell almonds, which were grown here.

It appears that the hardshell almond contains a small quantity of prussic acid. It does not contain as much prussic acid as peach seeds do, but too much to allow a large quantity of hard-shell almonds to be eaten at one time. I received a letter from the pomoloc-kal division of the agricultural department, which advises farmers here to plant the soft-shell almond, saying they will be likely to do well hard-shell almonds floury, and they are more i valuable -AUi wnolesome hnd that both IbVoartMhrti and soft-shell almond can be as easi, here the Sharon valey ftg peach he torn that has been planted has not grown much, on account of the damp, cool weather, but the weather is very favorable for the trees that have been planted this soring. All the evergreens I have seen are looking as healthy as when they were dug at the nursery. I have seldom seen so favorable a spring for evergreens.

I saw lately white pine, Scotch pine, Norway spruce, white spruce, rhododendrons and even pungens spruce and hemlock spruce looking as well as though standing in their native forests. It is to be hoped that such trees may become rooted and established befor.e we have any severe drouth. I notice that Ilioks, the weather prophet, predicts a very dry summer, to commence in the latter part of June; but I would not be sorry if his predictions should a failure, I feel the assertion that the loss be wt.yi.i suffer ia nia reputation as weather prophet, would be more than gained, to the farmers in their corn r'uaUd iU tbeir newly tree9- i heat Is growing well now, but some ot it is tbin on the ground. I have seen vneat on the higher land, south and west, that looks better tnan it does here 1,1 the Hyj JASON. IIazelton.Ka., April 24th.

1S92. Kd. Index Pie ase give me a small space to state that I have been addressed as often' as I an stand it with the title of Rev." refixed to my name. Iie wor(l "Revert -nd" is only mentioned once the BPble (Psalms cxi, 9) and in that case it is applied to God; and believing it to bf a great sin for a poor mortal man of the dust to take upon himself a tiUe that belongs to "the great and dreadful God," as Daniel styles him (ix, 4) it is putting one's self on an equality with God. Therefore 1 hope no one wUl ever give me that tiile again.
