Mr. and Mrs. A. Faye Olmsted visited in New York recently and Monday Were at Harpursville visiting the Winth'rop Olmsteds. Mrs. Mabel Whitehead and Mrs. Edna Huber will spend a few days this week in Minnesota to visit distant relatives. Mrs. Joel Duvall and son have returned to their home in Kansas City after a few weeks visit at the home of Mrs. Cecil Cree find family. f Family Reunion Is at Happy Hollow Forty-ttoree third-, fourth- and fifth-generation descendants of Dr. Sylvester Cravens gathered Sunday at Happy Hollow Lake for a reunion. Dr, Cravens, a country medical practitioner, resided in east central Knox County, and practiced his profession in the area where Knox, Stark and Peoria counties join together in the middle 19th century. In those pioneer days, family gatherings were regular events. In Cravens' family the practice has been continued by the doctor's many descendants annually. At midday a picnic dinner-was served. A short business meeting was held by Steven Cravens, president, when Stanton Moore was elected to serve as, secretary for the next two years. Attending were members from Peoria, Tremont, Williamsfield, Toulon, LaFayette, Laura, Gilson, Maquon, Knoxville and Galesburg. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. James Duke and two sons from London, England, Mrs. Duke being a great-granddaughter, and Mrs. Willis Cravens and small daughter and son from Cali Colombia, her husband being a great-great-grandson. Of. Dr. Cravens' eight children, one son, Clark Stanton Cravens of Ogden, Utah, survives. Guests were Mrs. Milo Stevens and Miss Rhonda Dyer. Egg Rolls with Chinese Mustard Chow Mein Rice Fruit Fortune Cookies Chow Mein VA cup salad (not olive) oil 2 cups thin onion strips 2 *2 cups thin celery crescents 14 cups clear chicken stock Soy Sauce Mixture 2 cups cubed leftover roast pork 1 can (1 pound* bean sprouts, drained 1 can (3 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained can (5 ounces) water chest- 1 In stir nuts, drained and sliced a large skrilet heat the oil; in onion, celery and chicken stock. Cover and boil gently for about 10 minutes. Add Soy Sauce mixture. Cook and stir constantly over medium heat until thickened. Add pork, bean sorouts. mushrooms well and and sprouts, water chestnuts; mix reheat. Serve topped with chow mein noodles. Makes 4 or 5 1 servings. Soy Sauce Mixture: stir togeth er 3 tablespoons cornstarch, teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons sugar; add 3 tablespoons soy sauce. Gradually stir in cup chicken stock or bean-sprout liquid, keeping smooth. Gilson News Note§ GILSON - Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Wilcoxen, Connie, Susan and Teresa June, attended the wedding of MariBeth Halverson and Jim DeRogisch at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Peoria June 23. Teresa June was the flower girl at the wedding. Mrs. Wilcoxen and the girls remained in Peoria for several days visiting relatives.
