Dr. S. M. Smith preached a powerful sermon at the First Presbyterian church last night, taking for his subject "Prepare to Meet Thy God." He explained that the meeting between God and sinner is inevitable. He stated that the God that must be met is a God of prayer, a God of justice and mercy, and an all-wise God, and that there is no escaping from this meeting.

Tnis being true, he urged his hearers to prepare for the meeting. Hs said the preparation is so necessary and yet so simple, and the speaker made plain all requisites necessary to a thorough preparation for this meeting. Dr. Smith held the undivided attention of every one of his hearers. The discourse was a solemn and earnest appeal and made a deep impression on the audience.
